Group name - Neptunes Fist
Culture/affiliation - Roman
OOC contact name and email - Richard underscore dabell at yahoo dot co dot uk
Facebook group - http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/topic.php?uid=121177574953&topic=9905
Approximate size - 40 odd at the moment
Concept blurb - Two or more roman warbands who work closesly together.
The Crew and associates of the roman warship Neptunes Fist, who have been tasked by both the roman navy and neptune to attend the games. The crews marines excel at assult actions on other ships and land targets and plan to bring that experience to the arena. Their warleader is a senior naval figure.
A senator and his household. His personal guard consists of gladiators and colliegium men as he has dodgy contacts. They are much more of a freeform fighting group but also much nastier than the average troops. This warband is aimed more at the people who want to be roman, but cannot afford the cost of armour, helmets and shield.
Between the two groups there will be a number of priests and attendants, including followers of neptune and tiberious. We are planning a very organised and well dressed camp which should be lots of fun to play in.

Group name- undecided but nickname is hoplites/non spartans
size - well 10 people interested thus far
concept- basically a fully functional fighting hoplite regiment. With meals eaten together as a unit sat round a fire, comradery, unaccepting of any outsiders. 4 hours drill every day, formations, armed and unarmed combat, runs around site wearing not much you get the drift, really playing on the arrogant greek myth(or was it).
we really put an emphasis on FUN, so lots of it is guaranteed, from horribly crude camp fire stories to a full formed phalanx.
if you like the greek culture, like the idea of being a hoplite just PM me
also room for none hoplites as we want to represent a regiment on campaign, so we need doctors and the like

Group name - None yet
Basically, I want to start a group of camp followers- those working ladies (and men) who follow armies around on campaigns doing a sort of portable brothel service. Working mechanics will be the same as the Chamber at Maelstrom- i.e massages- and I am willing to tutor anyone who doesn't know how to give them. All cultures welcome.
If, like me, you are useless at combat but love the idea of wearing pretty clothes and being constantly subjected to all sorts of innuendo, this is the group for you!

Nice to see this thread taking off before we have a rulebook or date. I approve! Now please send a random amount of cash to...
One point that is worth making here is how we are probably going to have groups work. There won't be a 'group' concept like Maelstrom per se. If you are a warleader it will be important who your loyal champions and attendants are and vice versa. In this situation attendants, champions and warleaders MUST be from the same nation. Each such warband can only have one warleader in it.
You do not have to have a warband to be a warleader; and you do not have to be part of a warband to be an attendant or champion. However it might help if you want to go into the arena!
If you are a priest or philosopher then you can choose to 'hang around' with whichever warband you like - but there's probably not going to be any game mechanic involved in that other than backgrounds - we're not taking individual backgrounds - only from groups.
The full detail on this will be clear in the rulebook and might still be tweaked - however please don't plan multi-national groups at this stage.

There's no maximum size currently in place for groups, no.

| Group name: not decided Allegiance: Probably Greek (final decision to be taken once the rules/backgrounds are fully out) OC restrictions: Ladies only. Concept blurb: a group of Amazons who have been partially 'civilised' by Greek influence (there is a story about the Amazon queen taking forces to Alexander and trying to have him sire a super race of future Amazons, for the purposes of Odyssey we can assume this to be 'true'). Name: The Temple of the Devouring Wind
Culture: Persian
Size: 5 committed (1 magus, 2 philosophers, 1 immortal, 1 king), looking especially for immortals and magi, but taking anyone.
Concept:
Zoroaster lied.
The Daeva are not evil. The Bounteous Immortals are not good. They are two sides of a coin - hardship and indolence. The one man prays for sun and calm weather and builds a house of reeds - the other prays for storms and hurricane, and builds a house of stone. Which one prospers when the Devouring Wind begins to blow? One man prays for protection against his enemies and grows soft and fat - the other man prays for monsters and becomes tough and strong. Which one prospers when the enemies can be held off no longer?
To walk in light is to be blind in the darkness. To huddle at fires is to be defenceless in the cold. When the Devouring Wind comes, we shall be left standing to build Paradise, the Daeva shall relent, the Yazata shall bow down and Ohrzduk shall seal himself away forever.
We're not sneaky shadowy evil cultists. We're righteous harbringers of the end times, and very open and vehement about it. We're heroes, goddamnit.
-------
Also, you get free trousers, so you know, that's good?
