This must show my age then, but I wonder if they were the same guys at GW, that years back in "White Dwarf" talked about a GW LRP, I remember them saying it would possibly be a dark future style thing.

| I dont know about thaty (although dark future larp would be cool). The number of larpers working at gw head office was silly, made it very difficult to book the august bank holiday weekend off That is, unless you were in the boss' LT group

In which case, I'm surprised they never got involved in a LRP product in some way or anther, surely it would have been better than MET.
A GW Lasertag system with bolt on casings, hmm would have been nice.

So what's the numbers for a 'fest'? 250 peeps? Is that possible to drag in that many players?

I generally define a fest event as:
1) Fairly large in size - I'm not sure you could have a 'fest' with less than 50 people, I'm not sure you could have a game that wasn't a 'fest' with more than 100
2) Players outnumber full-time crew substantially, so most interactions are player / player (possible occasional large battles with half the players monstering notwithstanding) - for most of the event the players wander around doing their own thing rather than being explicitly directed by the crew (possible occasional small groups being taken off for a linear notwithstanding)
The limitations of trying to do a LARP event for that many people often mean that you end up with a setting which is 'a lot of people show up and pitch tents in a field together for some reason', but I don't think that's an essential feature.

I did have an idea for a sci fi western set in the Aliens/Outland setting where the Crew/Npc's would have been the town populace Saloon, Barber/Surgeon, Bank etc etc.
Set on a world where like in Aliens3 The Corporations had mined and used the planet for all its worth and given the colonists an ultimatum, leaving those who didn't tow the company line to their own devices.
The Story being std. western fayre: a Family turf war.
the players would have been opposing families as well as independent outlaws/business men on travels etc.
Lo and behold Firefly came out and screwed any ideas I had

| Oh well, that'll be the 'great minds thinking alike' thing dude... Firefly does have a hell of a lot of story potential. H
