Inspired by littlebus' New Crobuzon thread.

Where would you like to play? If you could go and play a game out of the pages of a favourite novel or story, where would it be?

I've muttered to friends about getting together a Chrysalids/Crucible-inspired group together for Maelstrom when I'm bored with crewing it (so probably never.)

But I'd love to play something set in Kipling's India. Grimwood's Effendi books also hold an appeal, particularly El Iskandria itself. On a light-hearted note, and if I could find a game in it, Lake Wobegon is an awfully vivid setting.

Something from the pages of the Fall Revolution (Ken Macleod) would be awesome, too.

Let your imaginations run riot, someone might agree with you and then you can have a whole ton of fun.

Lake Wobegon where all the women are strong, all the men are good looking, and all children are above average? I can honestly say that had never occured to me as a setting.

Hard to physrep certainly.    How about "skylark" when men were men, women were women and fluffy alien creatures from Alpha Centauri were fluffy alien creatures from Alpha Centauri?  Wait, that's the Hitchhikers' Guide I'm thinking of...

Hard to physrep? Fields and woods on the shores of a lake, period costume and dodgy norwegian-american accents. Admittedly, good lrp plot would be hard to find.

Edited: poxy-bloody-quote-things broken!

Erm... actually I didn't think the setting of Lake Woebegon would be hard to physrep.    I was thinking of some of the PC's.

Hmmm.. the "what have you read lately section" is helpful isn't it?  Is there room for a high fantasy pvp game where the focus is more politics and warfare than trading?  I'm thinking "Song of ICe and Fire" stuff.

(How can the guy that came up with "Wild Cards" come up with "Song of Ice and Fire"?  Are they two people, or is it like Stephen King and the Dark Tower?)

GRRM was editor of "Wild Cards", but I believe he came up with the core world. I believe the series was based on a tabletop game he wrote.
