| I've never suffered more than cuts and bruises while larping. I have just suffered a compund fracture to a metatarsal while walking down a flight of stairs (it was dark, and I missed the bottom step). Conclusive proof larping is safer than stairs! The worst accident I ever saw was a guy step backwards off a small cliff while fighting. He fell about 20 foot onto the rocky, sloped floor beneath. He didn't even sprain his ankle!

James_Adamson (8/4/2006) I've never suffered more than cuts and bruises while larping. Me either- never seen a serious accident, either. I know I've only been larping for just under two years, but this thread is making me wonder if I'm overdue for something horrible. James_Adamson (8/4/2006) The worst accident I ever saw was a guy step backwards off a small cliff while fighting. He fell about 20 foot onto the rocky, sloped floor beneath. I've done something very similar. Luckily I rolled down the slope rather than free-falling, but even so I managed to turn fully head over heels before hitting my head on something at the bottom. Not my proudest moment. Felt a bit shaky afterwards, but luckily I was fine a few minutes later.

I think most of us with the proper injuries (and most of mine are exaggerated, anyway) have been LRPing for a stupidly long amount of time, and in times when safety was stupidly absent.

Also the most common injuries occur in fights... if you are a non com or go to a system where the combat is non contact then you are less likely to get hurt...

I think that is true, just... but IME most of the combat injuries aren't the direct result of latex weapon combat. Falling, trampling, and collision injuries seem more common, and generally more severe.

| I was monstering at a Shards event 2 years ago and during a fight I thought it would be cool to dive and roll under somebodys blade and then pagga them in the back. So I dived and rolled and completely knackered my right knee on some wood in the process meaning that I just had to lie on the ground and have my throat slit instead. A year later I was at the LT and it was the big battle on the last day. I was lined up in part of a shield wall and was yelling a lot to make sure that the wall stayed together when we impacted on the enemy. Sadly when we go in range I took a step forward to take a swipe at someone and while my ankle went one way my knee went the other. Cue a lot of me screaming on the floor as I've buggered my right knee again. I'm just hoping I can get through this year with my knee intact.....

| only injury i've ever had was when during a duel at the 92 gathering, my opponent smacked me in the face with an unpulled blow and got me just under the eye! It hurt a lot and left a mean looking bruise, and a lot of explaining to do
