| First time at SoS, the party have got trapped in a rather small room and everything's going a little bit pear-shaped. One of the party is a big lad in chainmail. Said big lad in chainmail gets hit and falls backwards onto a rather tiny girl. Me. I instinctively put up a hand to break his fall and the fingernails on my right hand touch the back of my right arm. Being so very pumped full of adrenaline I take no notice and carry on fighting with a spear. It wasn't until I walked off the dungeon and realised that my hand was several times the size that it should be that I start thinking that something might be wrong, but first aiders have a look and I don't appear to be in any pain, so I don't think too much about it. Then a few hours later, when I'm in shock, the pain kicks in and we very much realise that I've broken it. However, by this point everyone on site is either asleep or pissed, so I must wait until morning to go to hospital. The things I do to get out of site clean-up, eh?

| Worst LARP injury to me: Breaking collar bone whilst running away from a goblin hoard. Called my own man down call, cos monsters thought my screams were roleplaying. Most awkward injury: Local system has a two day overland/linear every year. One poor individual dislocates his knee in the middle of Swaledale, and needs evacing by mountain rescue.

Again at SoS. We’re wandering around the Tower. I’m playing an enthusiastic deranged Archaeologist NPC who’s fascinated with the ruins we’re wandering through. I notice that we’re just about to go under a low pipe to I turn around and announce to the party.
”Now then chaps, the ceiling gets a tad low here, so be careful and crawl under nice and low so nobody gets hurt okay?”
Happy with warning the players not to hurt themselves I turn back around to carry on – straight into the pipe I warned the players about – knocking myself out cold.
Apparently even whilst concussed I stayed in character to the end of the linear (and worryingly kept in character way past time out).

| Dislocated right shoulder, that was quite painfull. Also managed to miss the man down call and sort of sauntered away from the fight so as to not disrupt the flow of the game, of course the ambulance did disrupt it a bit.

| Hottest. Renewal. Ever. I'm monstering and so having to scamper back and forth through Phasel's Wood in kit and some makeup. We're ambushing the players again who're getting a bit annoyed that we're not standing and fighting (because of course that's what skirmishers vs shield walls do). When I get a spidey sense moment and turn my head to my left, bearing down on me is someone of the same height and weight but wearing full plate armour in a (highly illegal) shield bash/charge. After I pick the grass and dust from my teeth I stand up. Big mistake. I go and lie down with my head down and my legs up on a log because o/w I'm going to "call down the chunder" all over the place. I think it was that same renewal where I had to do something like 6 rituals in 2-3 days. A nerve wracking experience on the hottest day in August, whilst wearing black furs and black leather pants (I was young and foolish, (As opposed to now, when I'm old and foolish)) I wake up at night and my "legs" have become swollen, red and very, very itchy in a heat rash like no other I've ever seen. Ahhh... happy days...
There is only overconfidence and terror.

| Mikey, you know that getting concussion that often isnt a good idea, right? I have a slightly weak ankle, which I have sprained several times. Two of them were vaguely humourous; Incident 1 - at Brit Rex, playing a silly christmas game involving jumping from piece of sacking to piece of sacking. I slip and fall. Everyone, including me, laughs. After everyone stops laughing someone offers me a hand and starts to pull me to my feet - my foot touches the ground and I scream. He put me back down. Incident 2 - I'd be captured and was about have my throat slit. I could hear my rescue party but frankly they were taking their sweet time. I could see my guns. So, I roll under the sword being held in front of me, grab my guns and proceed to start shooting. In the middle of it I have a rabbit hole interface error. A couple of moments later the first aider and I agree its ok, and I continue my escape. Only after I'd marched up to the marine leading my rescue party and informed him he was late did it start to really hurt. It was worth it for the look on his face.

I very rarely do it on purpose!

LT Monster (8/3/2006) Big LT Moot fight.
Big bads running all over the place.
Defeated one death knight in single combat, I was actually a Barrow Wight, not often you get me though, usually you duck the chance... still had to let you win that one... Really enjoyed the "Being smashed into the floor" bit, very fun... LT Monster (8/3/2006) Half way through second when distracted by a bigger bad. Charge into bigger bad, and then start backing off very quickly, at running speed, whilst still hitting said bad very safely.
realise something is wrong when my feet are above my eyeline, and land, at speed, on the back of my head. Had GCV of 5 for about 30 mins, and trip to hospital.
Got treatment at hospital, in which they advised I was lucky not to have broken my skull, but had flattened it out some where I had landed.Yeah I think you hit the back of your head on a tent peg or something if I remember right. S'what was said at the time.
LT Monster (8/3/2006)
Worst part was, some spod congratulated me on a well rehearsed fight...Could have told me, I worked bloody hard playing him... All my LRP injuries involve being hit in the eye. Either smashed glasses (rare, don't wear them at events), contact lenses being knocked out or to the back of my eyeball by arrows, or freakishly having my retina bruised by a club that was thrown to me to catch, but hit a tree branch and flipped up into my face. The last one stopped me doing LRP fights for about two years. Worst injury I ever knew was Col Bird's trachaea though. That'd be the reason why no event I ever run will allow "safe" thrusting weapons.
