I dunno... but... it kinda works for LRP too, for sure.
Maelstrom is Pretentious Stupid -- there may not be zombie chickens, but wasp priests and samurai badgers are clearly along the same lines, and yet people do take the whole thing very very seriously, quite often.
Hyborian Tales definitely fits into the Pretentious Retro niche.
A lot of fantasy LRPs that don't promise much more than Good Old-Fashioned Fun (With The Occasional Space Marine) are Retro Stupid.
