I have yet to witness anything "adult" at aoutdoor 10+ player larp, that wasnt done behind closed tents...or do you mean"themes", "language" and "gore" 
Some people get irrationally upset when their children are exposed to bad language, enthusiastic songs about goblin rape and whores, screaming people being horribly tortured to death, dark blood-rites to demonic powers, gleeful drug peddling and use, open and acceptable slavery and racism, etc etc. Although most people seem to be fairly okay with casual offhand murder in their kiddie LARP .

There are certainly things in event's I've been to that I wouldn't want to expose children to. As well as everything else I don't feel huuugely comfortably battering them with LARP weapons (or visa versa. XP)

Most of my young years were spent getting hit with latex weapons by people twice my size! Never did me any harm...

Ghostbusters : Unemployed college professors blow up hotel with nuclear devices. Alien : Unplanned pregnancy leads to complications Aliens : Crew fail to deliver cargo, do not get bonus.

You seem to think me not wanting to hit them is out of concern for -their- welfare. XD

Though last event -FOIP (as if you can't guess who anyway..)- bit off someone's fingers and smashed their face into a table... unfortunately that was a crew member. XD What can you do... very awkward. XD Just wanted to go oc and mollycoddle her.
