In Summary: Excellent reffing and camraderie saved the event. Great fun and quality role playing. I enjoyed myself a great deal and can only hope that in future the crew issues get resolved.
System: The low hit, effective armour approach works very well. Combat is fast, potentially deadly and a certainly creates a burning desire to both protect the healers and not get hit. The down time system, combining both social status and income, places the right level of pressure to invest in property and trading while staying relatively simple. The criteria for earning extra character creation points are well laid out and sensible in encourraging players to invest in the system.
Plot: The reffing team were badly let down by their monster crew for this event. When only one monster from 5 turns up its bad. Basically the players rallied round and excellent reffing meant that there was very little disruption to the players generally. The tunnels helped, by allowing crew to fall back and return in waves. The plot was pleasantly focused and consistent, with personal subplot thrown in where-ever it was appropriate.
Players: Excellent kit all round, good IC equipment and some very good roleplaying over the weekend. Food was liberally shared and there was plenty of interaction amoungst the 12 players that made it down (again numbers suffered due to traffic problems and last minute cancellations).
Location: The Chatham fort tunnels and fort provide a good space for IC eating and sleeping, as well as OC cooking and food storage facilities. Due to the weather the majority of the adventures used the tunnel system, which was well maintained and lit. No probkems with unsure footing. The only real facility related problems were the car park in the middle of the site and the flue problems in the barrack room.
