A Batleth was handed in to police in the knife/blade amnesty organised by the boys in blue at the mo.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2006240126,00.html

I like this quote from the article, by the cop who is pictured holding the "3 handed weapon"!!

“It is a particularly nasty weapon which could easily take someone’s head off.”

Yeah, no shit, you don't say.

What I really don't get with this amnesty, is that really only people with a concience, or those who have such weaponry about them out of fear of attack, are going to hand them in.

All the violent nutters will be counting thier blessings they have less resistance when it comes to intimidation, violence and mayhem. I can see em sharpening thier pointy sticks now.

I don't think anyone would actually hand in a Batleth as they cost so much and its not actually ment to be used. Now one made of foam and Latex, thats a batleth to be scared of

Erm... Grim... I hate to have to say this, but The Sun said that the police seized it in a raid and that it had been sharpened to kill, so it wasn't handed in, in an amnesty, it was being kept by some of those nutters.

If I had a knife because I feared attack, then I wouldn't hand it in in an amnesty.  That's because whatever provoked me to be afraid would be the same.  I don't even get the whole amnesty thing anyway.  What's wrong with wrapping the damn thing up in paper and sticking it in the bin?

If you wrap it up and put it in a bin one of those nutters might just find it and think "Yay free knife" I'd prefer to get rid of it in the way least likely to find it. Also if it isn't wrapped up properly the bin man might just hurt him/herself with it.

Oh yeah, booze and sleep deprivation ride again....sorry! my bad! I guess the title should have been "Klingons busted with 3 handed weapon"

I mean though, if they are so concerned about knives, then maybe they should stop pound shops selling stay sharp slicing and dicing samurai chef blades for a quid! In the light of the recent gun crime stats for cities in the UK, might it best to have a gun amnesty instead, that way taking some firearms out of the possible hands of the crims? I know its not going to put an end to gun crime, but it might be a start.....

That is true.  I had not thought of that.  Hmmm... it's going to be hard to stay on topic with this thread title.  You can just see them now.  A big army of Klingons and a guy at a small fold out desk...

"HERE!" *slams down batleth*

"Thankyou." * gingerly edging backwards from slowly splitting table.*

"You're welcome."

(What?  Klingons can't have good manners?)

I saw that in the metro a chortled. A batleth, even a sharpened BAtleth, isn't exactly subtle, is it?

I mean a sword is pretty hard to hide on a person, but a crescent shaped blade, designed to be wielded by an alien? Surely you have more look with, y'know, a real knife...

I think you would have more chance of hiding a Blunderbus than a Batleth, the Blunderbus is lighter for a start.
