It seems there is some confusion on how Will points are recovered, so i hope to recify that.

At this first event Will points were handled by bits of paper, this became cumbersome so now we handle it on a trust based system, but this means it needs to work the way it is meant to.

In brief, to recover Will you MUST consult a referee. Simply put, no referee = NO WILL.

Now, that referee may well ask what you intend to do, then say "Ok, go and do that and as long as you are not interrupted then you get 1 Will for every 10 minutes you do it". Thats fine, whether or not a ref then comes and tells you it failed, or you get a message from your god or it worked doubly well is a matter for the referee.

I won't go into details from a plot and lore point of view, this is plain and simple black and white rules. However it is possible that when trying to get Will that your god speaks to you and asks that you do something in order to suceed. I won't say more than that, but you should never simply assume 10 minutes of "prayer" is enough, its only enough if a ref says so.

Also, please note that every god is different, again without wanting to be specific 10 minutes of quiet prayer and meditation is hardly likely to impress the Destructor

The reason I raise this at all is that I have been told (and from the low amount of people who seemed to get ref approval I can believe) that people were simply assuming that all they needed was 10 minutes and bam, the Will comes back.

To dispel another myth, Will recovery does not necessarily need to be a solo exercise, nor does it have to involve what we might consider prayer, each god might consider certain things to work.

We have no intention of telling you what works and what doesn't, the idea is for you to find out. Some groups have found (often extreme) ways of getting multiple points of Will back in less time than usual, others have found what they have tried fails. Surely this can only promote roleplay by groups talking to each other about what works and what doesn't.

And this is why I'll never play anyone who uses Will at EOS. (Having to go and get a ref is always bad because there is no IC reason for you to have to go search for an invisible person, breaking immersion. Having to spend large chunks of time not interacting with the surroundings ('without interruption') is also not great. Being told after doing that for an hour that nothing happened is even worse.)

Is contradicted by this:

I would imagine this is unlikely to happen without good reason. If there is a good reason, you have something to roleplay with. It's not ideal, but it's hardly the end of the world.

Most people successfully regenerating Will at the last event in conjunction with a ref that I saw were doing some very small variation on 'sitting and going om'.

I can honestly say that without breaking foipiness the way I stumbled on was pretty awesome (if my theory is correct... not asked a ref for clarification yet though)

The ideas have got to come from the players, ultimately. I've been trying to convince druids of the Land to sit in muddy puddles and throw leaves over their heads since before event 1.

They never do it. Spoilsports.

Sitting and going OOM may work for one religion, it may not work for another... but for that religion other things may also work.

And ALL types of players use Will, everyone has it and its used for all sorts of things, staying conscious for one. As for finding a ref, we try to wonder about alot and unfortunately with any LRP there will be times where you need to go to games control for whatever reason...

What about the particular FOIP acts of recovering will that do not require prayer... do they need a ref as well? It would be very odd as they don't necessarily take 10 minutes

I think I know what you're referring to, that does not require a ref.

I should also add here a clarification of what happens on zero Will. You have to roleplay the effects as per the rulebook, but you are not stopped from using skills or casting spells. HOWEVER the roleplay aspect of it is important so the use of such skills should be in line with your condition, you should not just continue to act as normal.
