A friend of mine has a copy, after the 1st game I was hooked. Its the type of game you need to set the best part of a day aside to play, but it is great.

It is a LONG game, although not quite Diplomacy or Old Civilisation long.  I like the fact that you aren't sitting there for a bn years before you get a turn, it tends to be quite quick that way.

I've played 2ce and the second time I didn't pick the ISC but I came a very satisfactory last (9-10-10-10) being red in tooth and claw after having two other empires jump me and retreat with tails between their legs.

Yeah, it's a great game. I spotted it in a local shop just as we were getting bored of Axis and Allies, and I have to say that we haven't looked back. However, we tend towards very long games. The first one was over 12 hours long and no one was anywhere near winning.

Wow, that's impressive!  We played a 5 player game from scratch and that took 6 hours even with lack of comprehension.  Did you use the ISC?

Nope, we had heard most people leave it out. We also failed to realise that you couls activate a system, move AND build in it - we thought you activated to do one or the other. However, we have still only finished one game so far - where we had everyone (a 4 player game) take 2 strategy cards per round, not 1 - and it took 5 hours. I guess that we are just heller evenly matched.

Oh and my girlfriend who was only there to make our 4th player kicked my ass completely even though I was the gribbley bugs of doom.

Have found that one of the best things about the game up is that you can ask your allies if they can use their ability on yor behalf. It makes politics more interesting as you choose your allies more carefully and it adds more options between between allies.

Its a very cool game!

The gribbly bugs o'doom!!1oneone Good people.  I think the time limit does make things harder, especially when you don't want to choose the Imperial Strategt Card because it is teh lame.  I think the university of Jol Nar is hiding the fact that they're great old ones pretty well, don't you?

I especially like the fact that a blitzkrieg approach (attack from 2 or more sectors away) is a risky strategy as it virtually guarantees that you can't retreat unle
