I need some Polystyrene blocks or thick sheets to make Tomb Stone type of props asap.

Any ideas what shops/website may do them?

I tired ebay but the sheets were way too thin.

Polystyrene panels are available from Builder's Merchants/DIY stores for use as ceiling tiles. They tend to be about 10-15mm thick and about 1-2' square, which would sound initially too thin for gravestones but as they are regular shaped and combine together very well.

Another way to build up thickness quickly would be to use card or polystyrene to form a layer between two sheets of panel, like how corrugated cardboard is made. This should allow you to manufacture thick objects without having to use as large amounts of polystyrene.

I am sure that you do not need me to tell you but you need to be careful when painting or gluing polystyrene test the paints or glue on a sample before using it on all your hard work.

As a final alternative, insulation panels (foam between foil sheeting) may also be suitable to for your purposes.

Any good supplier of building materials can get hold of 8x4 polystyrene sheets in a variety of thicknesses, from memory they come in 1", 2", 4" and 6" sizes but there may be others, however this is the white expanded  polystyrene which is cheap but easily broken if knocked

If you can get it the blue or pink polystyrene (Extruded polystyrene often called styrofoam which is the trade name used by DOW) sometimes used as underfloor insulation, this is much denser and is often used by graphic artists for model making because it can be easily shaped and carved, use a sharp knife or a hot wire cutter (dull knives will tear the foam) Dow owns the "Styrofoam" trademark, their product is blue. Owens Corning makes the pink sheet, otherwise the products are identical. Other manufacturers make similar products.

Sheffield Insulations are I believe the UK importer for DOW and have branches arround the country, Jewsons can suppy expanded polystyrene sheets but do not I think do extruded, Travis Perkins may be able to supply both
