Ok, here's a rough guide.
There is just one way to become in a state of bleeding to death and that is that any location is taken to below zero. So, what happens next? You have 5 minutes to live assuming you don't get healing (of which more later). Now, each additional location that is put into a state of bleeding immediately deducts 1 minute from your death count. So, you are at 3.5 minutes left to live and an extra location is put into a bleeding state, you now have 2.5 minutes to live. (N.B. A full minute is deducted even if the wounds are being dressed, this would reset the dress wound count).
As a result of the above, when all 6 locations are bleeding you have zero death count regardless of any wounds being dressed or any remaining death count. 6 bleeding locations = dead.
N.B. You can also be executed. To execute, the target must be unresisting (ie unconscious, tied up etc), you then say "Execute" then RP an execution, then after 20 seconds providing that they are still unable to resist, you may say "Execution," and that character is then dead. The method of execution is up to you, but must be reasonably identifiable as such, rule 7 applies... Example could be putting the head on a block, raising an axe over your head with a clear intent to behead and prepare the blow for the 20 seconds, or maybe a long slow throat slit (done ooc safely of course). Am sure you'll have your own ideas, if in doubt, find a ref.
Ok, onto healing starting with non magical.
Dress wounds doubles any remaining healing count as long as the healing continues to treat the wound (N.B. The bleeding character can slow down his count, perhaps by adding in halves, ie 120, 119.5, 119 to aid in keeping track of their death count). If the healer stops treating the wound then the count continues at its normal pace (so the bleeding character should then go back to counting down in full, ie 118, 117, 116).
It does not matter how many locations are bleeding for this to work, but you should RP dressing them all.
Bear in mind that each location made to bleed will already have reduced the initial death count. Someone bleeding in multiple locations is generally in some trouble. Also you can't dress a wound of someone taking damage still!
The character's consciousness state will not change until their hits have been increased to at least zero on both the head and chest by some other means. More on unconsciousness later.
Multiple characters dressing wounds has no additional effect, though there is nothing to stop you doing it (if this happens, and one person stops, as long as at least one person carries on dressing the wound then the bleed out count continues to be doubled).
Basic healing does not slow down the death count, but instead tries heal the wound itself. At the end of 30 seconds that location stops bleeding and is automatically increased to zero whether a limb, or the head or chest. As a result, once both the head and torso are back to zero or more hits then the character becomes conscious again. Any interruption or further wounding restarts the 30 second count.
Note, once a location is not bleeding, the death count is not increased back up 1 minute, it continues to reduce until all bleeds are stopped.
You are able to combine the 2 skills to a single person. So, someone can dress the wounds of a character whilst someone else heals individual locations. This gives the healer more time to do their job.
In summary, someone bleeding from several locations is going to be in a very bad state. Unless they get someone dressing their wounds and a healer or two fixing them up, then they have a good chance of bleeding out.
It does require players making it clear which skill they are using, dress wounds or heal. I would suggest dress wounds is indicated by the use of bandages, whereas healers should roleplay sewing up the wound or such.
Yes, it is deadly, with 5 locations taken out you don't have much chance of living. Now, a note on magical healing.
The FAQ deals with temporary hits so I won't go into those.
"Heal". This can only be used on a location that has zero hits or more. Therefore, since these locations will not be bleeding there is no issue.
"Vivify" This can only restore a location from below zero to zero. This immediately stops bleeding on that location and will restore consciousness is head and chest and both restored to at least zero.
As you can see therefore, druid magic can stop all bleeds.
"Imbue life". This spell transfer hits between the caster and target at the rate of 1 hit per minute. No location can be taken to "below zero" using this, only as far as zero. A location cannot be restored by this means from "below zero", it needs to be on zero or more to be given hits this way, so it cannot stop bleeding.
Unconscious then. This is something we've looked at quite a lot and we've decided that it shouldn't be easy to do. The ONLY way of making someone unconscious (without having them bleeding to death) is to reduce them to minus 1 Will. This can be by them pushing to cast a spell, or by losing Will points by other means such as taking damage from a magical weapon or (more usually) being hit by the "stun" call. Once unconscious that state remains for 10 minutes, at the end of which you recover to zero Will points (please note the appropriate roleplay restrictions for this). Note also that nothing will reset this 10 minute count, you cannot go below minus 1 Will, so further reductions to your Will score are ignored. After 10 minutes you will recover consciousness and be brought back to zero Will, at this point of course you can then be taken back to minus 1. The idea here to avoid situations where people are being "bonked" over the head every minute to keep them under. Having zero head or chest DOES NOT cause unconsciousness, rather it causes an RP effect as per page 44 of the rulebook, disorientation and the inability to focus or defend oneself. This continues until both head and chest are raised to at least 1 hit. Please note that this effect also applies if the chest or head is brought up to zero from below zero. Finally, being on below zero to head or chest does render you unconscious, but also bleeding to death. In this state you will remain unconscious until both head and chest are brought up to at least zero AND you have at least zero Will. Questions?

| So, for example, your head is hit and reduced to Zero, you can now only "sort of hang around dazed and confused but you are not unconscious, you cannot defend yourself, cast spells, act at full speed etc. but can move about at walking pace" That ok? So you can't call "double" with a sword if you have the skill, can't cast a spell to heal yourself, can't run. Only at -1 on head or torso are you "down and cannot communicate until revived, meaning at Zero for Head and Body at least. " You are only "fully operational again" once you are back to at least 1 point on Head AND Body. So, if a limb is reduced to Zero, it stops working, -1 and it is a location that is bleeding and needs to be healed to stop you bleeding to death. Is that correct?

The idea here to avoid situations where people are being "bonked" over the head every minute to keep them under I guess the alternative to this is to reduce them to zero on the body or head, and then tell to sit down and surrender? Incidently, if you have one / either / both of the medical skills and you examine someone, can you determine how many hits each location is on currently, and / or how many total hits their body has on full heath?

| Devils advocate here and to clarify the head and torso hitpoints thing: Does the dazed/unconscious state happen when BOTH or EITHER locations are reduced to the required state? Example; both my head and body are reduced to zero (meaning I'm dazed), if I then take another hit to the body OR head do I then become unconscious or do both have to be reduced to that (likewise with being dazed)? Common sense says EITHER, but I'd like to clarify so that I might be able to get myself out of the way if one location was reduced to minus figures.

Pete,
Its either.
So head OR chest on zero means disorientated.
Head OR chest on below zero = unconscious and bleeding.
If both are below zero, then BOTH need to be back to zero before being conscious.
If both are zero then BOTH need to be brought back to at least 1 hit to not be disorientated.
That help?

Correct on the first part. I've not gone into details of the alternatives to knocking someone out, but I'm sure you can work them out as you've stated.
There is no skill to determine hits, but clearly you can tell if someone is bleeding/unconscious/wounded/heavily wounded etc. Basically its common sense, someone with 3 hits per location who's taken 2 hits might be cut and bruised, but functional. 3 hits taken and either dazed or with a broken limb. 4 hits taken unconscious or with a partly severed limb and bleeding to death. Those are just examples of course.
