Newbish Delight (8/24/2006) LARP is easier to say than LRP. Only if you insist on pronouncing Acronyms as words.

And of course, how does one pronounce "LRP" as a word?
LeRP?
LrrrrP?
LaRP?
LiRP?
and so forth...

I hate hearing people pronounce LARP as a word. Another reason I prefer LRP.
Is it not another Americanism for people to acronyms into words?
e.g. mySQL is often refered to as 'my sequel' which winds me up too! Stop inserting imaginary vowels! Its not a word!!!

Taize (8/24/2006) Is it not another Americanism for people to acronyms into words? I don't know- it's never struck me as American-sounding. If I had to stereotype American speech one way or another, I'd say that my mental image of it involves more acronyms than English speech does.
WARNING: the information above may have been subjected to dangerously high levels of ignorance.

It's LRP. It's pronounced larp, and a some point, someone confused the acronym for the pronounciation and added 'action', then made some shit up. Live roleplay is a misnomer anyway. What are tabletoppers if they aren't alive?
I can't wait for the OED to sort it out, frankly, nothing is more satisfying when it comes to semantics than to chuck a dictionary at someone.
But If i took the advice in that book, I'd deal with change blindly, embracing it without a thought, or go mad and wander tunnels like a Mythos Ghoul, vandalising walls. If change, any change is good, does that mean Spence Johnson will not mind some loony hacking off his arm? Oh, and cope with difference by being a condescending drone. Maybe by change you mean plagarise 'Seagull' and strip out the bits that make you think. Or do you suggest I use a badly written short story to justify bullying management tactics? A plague on 'Who stole the Cheese' and all who sail in the good ship 'simple minded management bullshit' .
