Hiya,

I exaggerate of course.

But there are three players (so far) from my crew alone who have booked places but already have commitments on the new date.
Multiply that by the number of crews and there is potentially going to be a significantly depleted player and crew base.

My concern is that there isn't enough time to process the cancellations and turn around replacements in time. There may be a waiting list, but I haven't seen any "places available" announcements, and prior admin performance does not inspire confidence.

Sorry to play Devil's Advocate.

I have no answers, only problems. Hmm... potential sig?

Greg.

Just a long-term Serenity player, no kind of association to the admin... but I would say there's little to worry about. The game is always very oversubscribed. You'll probably find that a load of people - regulars, crew and want-to-go's alike - could not make the first date and now can. We've certainly already come across a few like that in our circles.

The new date is actually better for our crew and a few other folks we know.

but only because we discourage players from using the call "guy next to mat pennington, double, damage"

One of the big steps towards sorting our admin problems has been a move to digital booking, with this system it is proving much easier to track players and effect bookings/cancelations. One of those bizarre cases of learning from mistakes and using technology to our advantage.

So far with the cancelations we have had we still have more players attending than we did for the first event we ran, which was also over-booked. We'll be talking over the strategy for filling newly available places this weekend and going from there to give everyone a chance to respond to the notification email.

Does this mean there may be a possibility of some places opening up? I ask with the vested interest of someone who would love to go, but realised a while ago that he'd missed the boat with booking.

To quote Andrew on the crews boards...

We were quite significantly overbooked once we crammed in all the stragglers so I doubt that we'll drop below our player limit, but if we do then I'll put up a note and re-open booking.
