Apotheosis has been entirely joy, so far. Except the mud. Here's what I saw (although I am not omnipotent, others not doubt saw/experienced it differently and YMMV):

-Fallen. Fallen everywhere.

-The Saturday battle that didn't quite happen. Two huge battlelines, lots of posturing, but sadly little hitting...

-Gnolls vs Wemics. Ouch. Goodbye, sweet Tritoni?

-The show in the Chamber of Delights. Blimey! There were a lot more scales than I was expecting...

-Novaks. You guys rock. Thanks to the devoted that got me a ticket, as well.

-The Native Game, DOING IT RIGHT. Jaguarites, you rock so hard. Basiliskers, I'm sorry. But hats off to you for coming through!

Right, just Sunday left to survive...

I can't believe I was at the event for only 10 hours and got so much roleplay happen.

-so much angst! Deaths and near deaths galore!
-gut wrenching worry and the am I going to get sacrificed on the altar of someone else's stupidity
-surprising lots of people by turning up
-the awesomeness of the several groups I interact with

Thanks and awe must go to Mill-en, Havocstan and Novaks especially for the 3rd part of the tonton trilogy seeing who was sitting in the front row. You all are awesome.

Woo!:

Scaly Chamber of Delights ladies. (Yes, I'm a dirty letch dragon. ;P)

Boo!:

Mud, mud, rain, mud. I couldn't really do much at all, and my tent leaked on my phone and killed it.

Posturing and then no fighting is rubbish indeed. I would have sorted that out but my costume does NOT work well in the mud. My giant feet either try to slide around and make me fall over, or get massively stuck like a huge suction cup.

Also my costume is still far from finished. Bah! Oh wait, that bit's my fault. :s

i was only at the event on Friday night for bothersome OOC reasons, but despite the weather I had an exceptionally good time.

The highlights were mostly interacting with my group (the weather didn't encourage much else).

I learned the hard way last year (with a previous character) that large sections of the game are not player-led at all. This is nothing new, so don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Your mileage may vary as to whether this is a good thing or not. Personally, I got exceptional roleplay from that fact and was most pleased (even if my character was not).

I think those two Boos are linked. Almost inextricably - it's very hard to muster a proper sized mob when it's so muddy.

And to me, posturing and then no fighting is far from rubbish if you were the side that was outnumbered or out gunned. Then it's "a lucky escape".

I reckon the game is very much player-led, in that NPC actions are reactive to PC action, rather than proactive as they often are in other games. Maybe I'm hair splitting.

But this is probably a subject for Matt. In a while. When he's no longer soaked in Finest Hertfordshire clay.

So, how was it for you?

The Win:

Where to begin...?

- Being subjected to an exasperated yell of 'RUFUS!!!!' in under five minutes of time-in. My all time best!

- Superb roleplay and fun in the Marshall Enterprises tent on Friday despite the potentially insane quantity of rain. You guys - what can I say! Your rockness is amazing!

- The sudden arrival of Aestar in said tent demanding to know who fired the gun (Detail Marshall discharged it to make safe before letting someone examine it). She then demanded to know who said "Ouch!" right after. My reply "Me. I was taking the piss." The win? The priceless expression on her face. (Sorry Aestar...it was worth it. It really was.)

- Getting Married. To A Tree. By Accident. Yes, I am now Mr Twig. (Or indeed, Mrs Twig, depending on your perspective). The faces on everyone who found out I had gone through a bizarre Dryad Wedding Ceremony demonstration only to find them insisting we were now married.

- Discovering that Twig and Rufus actually have a lot in common and get on very well, and that they now WANT to stay married.

- Learning that certain Flembic ladies had been lobbying to find a suitable Rufus-Wife and actually had a few names on a list of appropriate females. Albeit 24 hours after getting married. but hey, it's still win!

- Certain FOIP negotiation with the Chamber of Delights. OMG, you guys rocked beyond comparison. And Talia's remarkable trick of bathycolpian inflatable cleavage at the monks was also a high spot.

- Not making it to the strip show but having a cigar instead. I've seen boobs a plenty and many nice expanses of flesh, but nothing feels as good as a red hot cigar on a very cold day. And from an IC perspective, it's a lot more enjoyable for a Dracoscion than watching wobbly lizard parts.

- Mr "I'll Do Anything For A Kyat" man and his reaction to the Infamous Rufus Physrep. Hearing the screams from halfway across the camp as he ran through the mud to seek safety...the sheer hilarity in the whole Marshall tent was WORTH a kyat. It was worth SEVERAL. (And running into him everywhere I went for the rest of the day enhanced this).

- The Trial of Constance Varas. Threatening to shoot people until I got near the front, followed by a rather interesting case...nice. If a little hard to hear!

- The sheer degree of WIN for the very short time I was IC on Sunday morning. Meep. Marshalls, Chamber, Sky Ponies, Famous Grouselings ... when I realised the ultimate conclusion of what I'd arranged, I laughed until I snorted a bug up my snout. And no, I am not telling you why

- Post-time out discussions that were lewd, devious, and all win. Thank you EVERYONE!

- Seeing many well-missed people and hugging them crazily.

- And most importantly, everyone who helped me get through the weekend with support and hugs during what is a very, very difficult time for me with family problems. Thank you. You know who you all are, and you mean the world to me.

The Fail:

- Bloody Hippos are STUPID!!!!! Mud is not glorious, and it is not nice to wallow in. Especially when doing so results in me suffering damage to my lower spine. It is aching like a swine, thank you so very much Mister Rain.

- Sun appearing in glory a few minutes after time out is called. Ha De Bloody Ha, Mister Sunshine.

- MOSTLY, no complaints, but I think the Tolmers site needs serious re-thinking. It may HOLD everyone, but the awful soil makes mad mud with very little rain. Also, the site facilities were even WORSE than Event III. We got hot water, and in exchange got toilet blocks that ended up being closed, only one mirror for the entire male playerbase by Saturday morning, and a feeling that paying to stay in what was effectively a swamp with very rudimentary sanitary facilities was not really that much fun. Especially for those who are (like me) disabled. Actually walking the distance from tent to toilet blocks cam be difficult at Tolmers at the best of times on waking. Through a quagmire of mud only to find the damn things are not even working? I confess I turned the air blue for a little while at that point.

Otherwise...one of the more surreal but enjoyable experiences I have had in my many years of roleplay!

Oh, I suspect that changing my name to Rufus Oakwood may also ensure as a result of this. I like it. It rolls off the tongue nicely.
