Right, now I've finished work for the day I can add my tuppence. Being the Eos fanboy that I am I have to say that I love the vast majority of everything with only the few exceptions here:

1) The Avatars. Most were excellent and added something to the game, although I'm very frustrated at The Collector being able to vanish at will and since his aim seems to be to equalise the playing field by stealing the weaponry we crafted we were hoping to be able to at least earn it back. Having him vanish every time we tried to get close was frustrating (especially when we actually got our hands on him and he disappeared). It felt like rather than being a character within the story he was there as a form of Eos economy control.

2) Combat mechanics are just on the border of being too complex for dynamic working within one's head. After seeing some of the non-standard combat abilities and spells the descriptions lend themselves to more debate about how they should be handled. It feels like it could lend itself to people being hit, the target pausing, looking at the sky, wincing, shrugging shoulders and saying "negate... I think?".

Point number 2 I think is just something that the organisers need to be careful of. Point 1, unless there's a very good IC reason (which there probably was), really annoyed me/us.

Think of him as a magical Venin. He's annoying and likes thieving.

Edit:
Also, did anyone make you deal with him?

I luckily didn't let go of my mace for the entire event so I escaped the frustration, but many others didn't. There was probably a very good IC reason for him but from what I could gather the only willing deals with him was trying to sneak up the bastiche to wring his neck, to which he'd just vanish at will. The more I think about it the more I think that I should just chalk it down to experience and plot flavour (I mean, he must store those items somewhere... maybe another pastry dimension)

Any specific examples? The only one that springs to mind is spiritual grasp.

Without giving too much away, the Collector's aim (at least the one I played on Sunday morning) was nothing to do with you and everything to do with himself. And lots of people agreed trades with him; he just wanted payment in advance. *shrug*

one key thing. . .

that bloody hill. My knee is knackered at the best of times, but i had to go lie down for a few hours to stop it exploding after going up and down that hill half the weekend! evil buggers the refs were sticking something important on a hill!!

but I concur on magic calls, I was lucky not to have anything cast at me, but some of the stuff I heard baffled me.

With regards to the downtime late sumbission, I "think" i know to whom you are reffering, and there was a lot of consultation with Alan prior, and I think it was agreed due  to the complexity of the downtime and all the potential variables, and he chances people could die in downtime. As someone who has organised an event (possibly not a very good event i'll grant you) I can definately understand why Alan alowed the downtimes to be sumbitted after proper discussion and deliberation.

It's interesting to hear and certainly the first it's come up from my point of view - you can DIE in downtime?????
