Hey folks,
I'm currently facing the (hopeful) possibility of a new job in september that gives me things like weekends free (instead of having to use holiday for events). I've been looking at EOS with interest for some time (because it's like all shiny and new) and, should I land said new job, am seriously considering trying to make the September event.
Now, I'm not a LRP newbie, but much of my experiance has been linked to small local systems over the years, with the exception of doing lots of LT in the last two years. I know that EOS is in many ways a very differant beast to the LT, which is one of the reasons I'm looking at trying to come to EOS events as well as the LT events I currently do manage to get to.
I read plenty of posts on here and flicked a few times through the setting sections of the rule book, as well as a few cursory readings of the rules as well. But I do often find word of mouth, as it were, from folks who've been to a few sessions of any LRP conveys so much more than anything else (aye, I know EOS is only Two events in).
So, while I'm already keen and the only real restraint i have is time off work considerations, I would appreciate any opinions, insights and other things (avoiding anything that could stray too close to FOIP) about EOS that EOS players would like to throw up. Oh, and no I havent made any character descisions yet, still nosing through all that and seeing what jumps out at my creativity.
So go ahead folks and "sell" me EOS. Gimme the "Whats Cool!!!" froth.
Jon W

Eos has the blance right between PvP, PvE, player and story plot. I would also like to say/think that Eos has a much higher percentage of awesome people involved (both staff and players) that all work towards a very gritty and immersive experience. It's smaller than Maelstrom and LT and in a way I think it works in its favour: it has a certain intimacy with the players that everyone wants to put more in for everyone, and the staff have so much enthusiasm to go 110% further in whatever you ask.
I also like that the refs are there to point out when I make mistakes in rules and damage calls, since when I get enthusiastic I tend to get so far into the zone that I forget things which could be mistaken for cheating. There's always a ref handy for questions and for pointing things out.
And the Brood (and associates) are awesome. Hang on, we associate with everyone to a certain degree... Yeah, that counts... we're all awesome.

| Cheers for that one Pete. I have to say, it was partially your moments of camera time in the Changing Faces documentary that made me take a closer look at EOS. You just bleed KEEN man.

My moments in the documentary? You mean about 80% of it? It was practically a documentary about me doing larp.
And I like that closing statement of yours... Do it to the death!

I don't know if it's because it's smaller than Maelstrom and LT, but EOS feels a lot more intense in some ways. I'm a relative newcomer to this whole LRP thing really, so I don't have much to compare it to, but the best way I think I have of selling it is to say this; In one single event I had some of my most immersive, amusing, scary and just outright awesome moments ever.
Maelstrom = Thorne Amici EOS = Izel, sacred mud elf of the Brood Insurrection = Xetsa

i knwo when im at EoS i avoid at all costs going to my OC tent for anything and try and make sure im around coz otherwise i might miss somthing!!! theres always so much going on to get into for everyone be it scraps, politicing, trading, plot and so many people to bounce off. Also peopel really put an effort i think into kit, camps and background. Mr Stroud has laid down the world cultures and setting but left it open so people can really evolve things and go with ideas.

Paranoid/sneaky hat on: Perhaps the original poster is a plant by Mr Stroud to see why we think the game is so good (maybe even so he can evil chuckle at his monsterous creation).

Paranoia can keep one alive..... *says the LT Drow player*
But no guys, I have yet to have the pleasure of meeting Mr Stroud. Suffice to say, should I have the time free one way or the other I shall be EOS'ing come september I think (of course, if i cant get time free it will be whichever event follows september most likely). Thanks for the responses so far...and yes Pete, you were the darling of that vid.
If anyne else would like to add to the general froth thats been fluttered this way thus far, or advice and all the other stuff people generally dole out in the way of a system newbie...please let me have it
