Hola!

As we said in the FAQ, we'd like to keep faction sizes in the region of 6-10 people each (based on our number of players being 30-50).

As it stands, the Wayfarers' Guild are pretty much full (10 PCs).  Based on interest already expressed (not all of which are currently bookings), Duke Ladrill's Second Company will be about the same size, too.  The other three factions (Dawning Light, Free Thought Radicals, and Velvet Glove) still have a goodly amount of space, with the Velvet Glove being the most popular of the three.

So, if you aren't quite sure what you want to play yet, I'd recommend the Dawning Light or Free Thought Radicals...

Joe,

I assume (bad mistake) that 'owned slaves' don't count towards a faction total?

As such i am playing the human slave of a high elf. I think the elf in question is intending to be in the Velvet Glove. Thus I assume that I don't count towards the Velvet Glove total... since I'm a stinky human!

Cheers!!

In short, you sort of do and sort of don't.  At the minute, I'm counting you as Velvet Glove, simply because you're one of a number of PCs who'll be pursuing the VG agenda.  The same goes for other human slaves in non-human factions.  However, you don't get the starting cash for being in a faction, and I need to talk to Oli and work out where your XP comes from.

The reason I'm including human slaves in the count is that it could otherwise still distort the balance of power quite significantly.  Humans might be scum, but they can be useful scum.

Does that mean that you aren't thinking that someone 'attached' to one faction might not be working towards the goals of another (assuming that the character's goals are represented by a different group better)

For example a Human Slave of an Orc maybe passionate about achieving 'equal rights' for Humans. This is highly unlikely to be a goal of an orc...

Just a thought ...

If you want to play a member of one faction undercover as a member of another (the obvious one being a Dawning Light member undercover as another PC's slave) then you clearly are in a different faction and will get their brief etc.  But by default, a slave's agenda is their master's agenda.  You can seek another one by arrangement with the refs, but in terms of the mechanics of XP awards we need a way to make sure that everyone has objectives.

In other words 'Talk it through with a ref first' - Is that fair to say?
