| Having spent ages and ages pooring over the multitude of skills/abilities etc I have to ask, what is the rate of progression going to be like? Are you going to reward xp after each event or is it a find a trainer write a downtime kind of progression? If your going to reward xp is it the kind of reward that is dependant on certain factors and is it in the region of say 1-3 enough to get a starter skill (with trainer)? Or is it going to be quicker but events will be more dangerous per se? e.g. Instead of taking 4 years worth of events to get an advanced skill you could if you RP well, look the part, safe fighter, etc. could get an intermediate skill at the end of a worthy event? I know such questions and answers takes the 'magic' out of games but it could have a great impact on a 1st event character creation choice. e.g. blowing all your xp on money only to find you get 1xp as standard per event is going to make "being interesting/useful/entertaining" a great challenge for 3 events until you get your 1st basic skill by which someone will probably have killed your money realising your a useless fop who didnt have the presence of mind to hire bodyguads Enough blithering givf info!

| The short answer is, "see page 24." The long answer is: By default, you get 4XP for simply turning up to the event. Each faction also has three objectives for the event (set by the organisers for the first event, but hopefully set by the players, or at least influenced strongly by the players, for future events) -- one worth 3XP, one worth 2XP, and one worth 1XP. Some of these objectives will be mutually exclusive between factions, though, so if one faction gets all 10XP available to them, another faction will be able to get no more than 8XP. I think it's safe to assume that a relatively successful event will see most people getting 8XP. So, assuming you spend all your XP on other skills at character creation, you could theoretically go from knowing nothing of a skill (in your Gifted School) to being Advanced in 27XP, or 3-4 events. We plan to run 2-3 events in 2009, assuming the first one is a success, so by the beginning of 2010 you could have that Advanced skill from nothing. The first level of a Basic skill costs 3-6XP, depending on whether you're playing to your strengths or not. One of the advantages of being in a faction is that you can find a downtime trainer for certain skills very easily. Otherwise, you'll need to find a trainer (PC or NPC) and roleplay through your training during an event. You do also start with 20XP, and you can spend no more than 10XP on money (for a total of 300F) at character creation (and none afterwards). We're considering the possibility of awarding an XP for conspicuous heroism or individual achievement or something, but haven't got any details (or a decision) yet. We won't be rewarding safe fighting, because we expect that from everyone. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the info, Joe. That helps a great deal. Its rare you get a system with a lot to aim for buy in my experience and having so much choice comes with the burden of making decisions
