ChessyPig (8/10/2008) It'll be interesting to see if the plot density can be kept up as player numbers increase - generally it's assumed that large games have to be PvP because you can't supply plot for that many people and so they have to provide their own adversity rather than just using the provided ones.
Well, that's one of the more interesting things about EOS. If this were, say, a comparable sized LT event, I'd be spending all my events fending off NPCs from En Annabi; instead I spend it interacting with my surroundings and making very, very difficult alliances with other PCs. This is the best thing about EOS; this near-perfect fusion of narrative and independent actors.
(Actually, what I spend my events doing is trying desperately IC and OOC to figure out how the hell i'm ever going to feed everyone, but since that's *precisely* what I set the character up to be doing I accept that as part of the game HwS have put in front of me.)
I'm similarly interested in how scaleable it is, simply because I have a feeling the strong characterisation that's currently predominant in the game might not survive scaling. But that remains to be seen really. I've little doubt that the "floating narrative" structure could easily manage at least twice the current population.

EOS - Some Raggard Scum, previously Some Arimin Scum
6P - System creator (now retired), Andrei Treune of Clan Suner (for the moment)
RL - Will Robinson

CheesyPig, you have a good point in regards to the event size. I don't really have a "small" event size to compare it to as I've only really attended Maelstrom and Eos for comparison.

I'm far less down on LT than many here, but then I haven't been through the grinder of high profile and/or hanging around with the Powers That Be. So I'd say Eos is quite similar to an LT small event.
These things are usually for one faction (plus visitors) and vary in tone and quality between which faction you've got... its a lot easier to see plot happening, understand its relevance and do something about it than at main events. So there are big bads out there, little bads, local bads and ongoing plotlines, etc... but there is almost always a common response to it. i.e. nearly everyone works mostly together to see off the plotline and crawl the faction precariously back towards the supposed status quo (from which some other adversary will tip them off before long).
Eos is like that (in that there are big threats, small threats and ongoing concerns), but without the overwhelming urge to work together... I mean there's enough threat out there to make us want to work together, but not so much that we have to work together. And into that gap comes the resource trading (settlers), one-upmanship, racism and rivalry that turns the Maelstrom side of it.
So yeah, it is somewhere in between the two...

EOS - Weeping Boar, War Sayer of the Mystwalker Tribe Maelstrom - Tal Rufen, Quicksilver Trading Riftworld - Cpl Caplin San Angelo, 48th Assault Recon
