While driving home from Yorkshire this weekend I was thinking about the game and trying to come up with a concept for a group that four people could do... I failed.

What I ended up thing about was that in just about every game I have played I have played the hero (or at least the anti-hero) so my behaviour on an evening reflected this (IE - sitting around a campfire drinking and listening to people sing campfire songs)

NOW... of course in THIS game that has been turned on its head. Humans (for it is one of them that i intend to play) are not the heroes, and are down trodden and kept as slaves. So I go to thinking what would I do on an evening? And what could I do to perpetuate the feeling of humans as downtrodden slaves?

This got me thinking about the songs that people sing around the campfire. In my head at least it would be a bit odd to sing the typical comedy or heroic songs. But what would you sing instead?

I figured the closest I could get would be something like 'Negro Spirituals' from the slave days in the US.

That said, I'm not saying we need to start learning new songs!! I mean, with a bit of 'OCC' understanding we can justify why we might be singing a song about a hero or a comedy song.

It was just a thought...

Plenty of English folk stuff about revolution. Most Civil War related stuff like "The World Turned Upside Down" (although that's actually modern folk, rather than traditional).

I'm not really into folk (at least I can't start quoting bands, songs or singers) so I wasn't aware of this.

Can you give me a few band names, singers or song titles please?

Oddly i was listening to Bob Dylan on the way back and some of his ongs felt suitable. Admittedly they where the songs that are traditionally labelled as Protest Songs.

Thanks for your help!!

I've just finished adapting 'Jonny Rebel' to fit the system and it works quite well. my advice would be to take all the songs you're used to and see how you could tweak some of them.

So I may be small but trust me, I look big enough in my armour and what I lack in size I more than make up for in midget-berzerker-sword-waving-one-legged-foaming-mouth action! Just ask this small pile of mutilated bodyparts that used to be people looking at me funny.

I am NOT going to throw LARP safe hamsters at zombies... or frogs!

Mmm... I'll see what I can come up with.

Clearly we'll just end up singing the same old songs but try and come up woth a reasonable context as to why we are singing it!!

Assuming of course that any singing actually occurs! In my mind at least the quiet times around the campfires are clearly going to be for plotting the Revolution, and for those Religious types to be holding whispered 'church' services.

Bob Dylan, Billy Bragg, and the like are probably ripe for adaptation, as are slave-songs.  The idea of the Sigurd Gospel Choir has filled me with both joy and terror, though!

Three Dirty Goblins is entirely appropriate for the system.

I was thinking of doing something a  little custom. I mean it depends on the  race. Can imagine a few revolution songs wouldn't go amiss though..

Few retrofitted marching songs will, in general be appreciated i'd imagine

Lorien Trust: Tyr Dubh, Dragon, Druid of Arawn

Maelstrom: Kanduras Alberan, Follower of the teacher and explorer extraordinaire!

Bladelands: Shivenko Bhaal, Labarynthine Knight

RL: Mike, the loud one.

John Denver is also ripe for adaptation for the less revolutionary songs.
