I love the idea of Jane Austen meets Aliens. It's such a wonderful image.

But if we're going to be a bit silly and not just purely Austen, in my opinion it'd be even more fun to throw Sharpe, Temeraire and Jonathon Strange & Mr Norell into the mix as well! And so I will.

I've got lots of ideas for this larp, but want to discuss them with you all and modify them as we go. So each thread in this forum is going to have a first draft of whichever part of the system (rules/character gen/setting/ooc plans), and then everyone can suggest additions, modifications and possible flaws. And we can together hammer them out into a working LARP.

I've come up with "Jane Austen's Masquerades & Massacres" as the general title of the game. "Aliens & Alienation" will be the title of the first event.

I'm open to any suggestions and changes, please suggest away!

While I get where you're coming from, I don't think it's that good an idea to move away from "Jane Austen's Aliens" at the very least as a tagline. Something I've noticed talking to people about it is that they just keep repeating the name to themselves - it's incredibly catchy, just the sheer idea it invokes grabs people's imaginations instantly.

So possibly "Masquerades and Massacres" as a system title, but using "Jane Austen's ALIENS" as a line to grab people's attention?

Fair enough, "Jane Austen's Aliens" is certainly a snappy way to sum up the whole concept.

On the other hand, "Maelstrom" or "EOS" or whatever doesn't really sum up what the game's about to an outsider. They're names, not descriptions...

Which is what I was getting at. "Jane Austen's Aliens" is limiting as a name, but incredibly powerful as a tagline.
