Following a random conversation with a mate - I now have an incrediable urge to play "megalomania"* which of course isn't possible without me getting hold of an old Atari ST, or an emulator.
So... what other classics do people miss? or still play?
* which was ergonomically terrific.

UFO: Enemy Unknown, http://www.the-underdogs.info/game.php?gameid=4966. People have been chatting about it on rpg.net and now I'm all nostalgic again .

Thats blocked from work, but i'll take a butchers at home.
After much more consideration I feel a need for shadowrun (the SNES version) and also desert strike. Maybe Streets of rage.
as for UFO: my mate at uni had that on his PC, and couldn't get enough of it. i never saw the attraction myself tbh, but then I've never been a huge strategy fan. We are talking that turn based thing, right?

Chaos on the Spectrum. Still the best multi-player game ever.

Space Pilot on C64, I remember rushing to by it the day it came out.
Millennium 2.2 and Deuteros on the Amiga. Both were awesome, but I could never get the save to work on Deuteros, so I was left with marathon playing sessions instead.
Speaking of which, Marathon on the Mac circa 1995, lovely FPS with really awesome looking monsters.

A modern classic that I've been playing for about 3 years, & that is the true heir to the X-Com games -- Laser Squad Nemesis.
More info here:

http://www.hyboriantales.com
PD: Ghostdance ("The most irritating curse I've ever encountered" -- NPC played by H.)
Riftworld: Rossar Kuug ("Clearly mad, because he thinks he's a Com-Trow Skirmisher" - Aela)
Hyborian Tales: Crew, cook, dogsbody, general labourer, toilet cleaner ("Dangerously overoptimistic ref" -- Tom Nowell)
Otherwise usually crew ("Quite spry & fit, & willing to wear a big costume & run around a lot" -- various event organisers)
"My other oversized foam weapon is THE LORD" -- Questionable Content
