Something occurred to me today, Orcs are affected by fear when their superior is taken down, so what happens if they have more than one superior of equal status? I'm thinking specifically if you've got 10 Grunts and two Sergeants, if one Sergeant is killed, do the grunts take a fear or start following the other?
Different example, both Sergeants are taken down and as the Grunts turn to run away, a Lieutenant is stood behind them shouting at them to hold their ground. Do they continue fleeing or does the immediate arrival of a higher superior than the dead ones bolster them?
Obviously these only apply to examples based on rank but I think they're the easiest to work with

| It's very specifically your immediate superior; in the first example, any grunts directly under Sergeant 1's command flee, and the rest hold the line. In the second, the Lieutenant gets trampled by fleeing orcs. Note that prior to the Commonwealth, it worked on a kind of pack-alpha basis; there were very few situations where an orc might consider himself to have two superiors of equal importance, generally when you're an established member of a tribe and consider your chief and shaman to be equal. You can't build redundancy into orc power structures, either; each orc needs a clearly definied superior.

| Quick question about Orc Warbands. Is there any particular way you want ranks represented (aka chevrons, markings etc), or are you willing to give players some particular leeway with this? Am planning on organising a Warband of the 2nd Company myself. I should hopefully have sent you folks the concept and general statlines over the next few days.

| Given that a warband is about 30 orcs, and we're going to top out at 50 players, I'd rather no entire warbands ;-) You're welcome to bring a group from the Second Company, though. We're working on the specifics of rank markings (probably as cheek tattoos) at the moment, and will post them ASAP. Cheers, Joe

| Awesome, Nicholls FTW! Either way, thanks for clarifying the average size of a warband. Hoping to have two or three people coming with me so should technically be able to cover the command staff of one bunch.

Some of us are looking into some kind of prosthetic and padding but I think several are also going for a simple face paint job
