| Israel doesn't treat people differently.......? Then why do Arab communities in the occupied territories have to put up netting across their streets-to keep the garbage dumped on to them by Israeli's (who live in the upper story apartments) Just a minor point- but Isaeli's are the descendants of European Jews-they abandoned the land over the first few hundred years of the last millenium-mainly to escape warfare between Christians and Muslims, and then following the horror of Hitler and Nazi Germany the West felt sorry for the Jews (who lets face it had experienced similar treatment at the hands of every European Gov't they ever lent money to-convenient get out of loan agreement clause)and used its military strength to create Israel, which no one living in the area at the time could resist. They have now turned into the sort of horror which we Europeans excell in creating- Bravo, well done us! Arrogance and greed win out again.

I believe that in the incident that started all this shit, the Israeli soldiers were actually on Lebanese soil.
I love the way that if you express support for the Palestinians/Lebanese, you get called anti-semitic. But the arabs are semites too.

Andy Rimmer (8/9/2006) ... and then following the horror of Hitler and Nazi Germany the West felt sorry for the Jews (who lets face it had experienced similar treatment at the hands of every European Gov't they ever lent money to-convenient get out of loan agreement clause)and used its military strength to create Israel, which no one living in the area at the time could resist.Actually, to be fair, it wasn't "feeling sorry for the Jews" that led to the creation of Israel. A more significant factor was the sustained action of Zionist terrorists. Eventually, the Europeans decided to give in to terrorists and create the state of Israel. It seems that some Palestinian groups are trying to learn from history - if terrorism worked for the Israelis, it might for them...

| Turning Palestine into Israel had a lot more to do with guilt and keeping the international money "on side" than it did with any Zionist terror campaign. It also allowed the US to place an essentially western gov't into the middle of the Arab heartland, just in case certain newly formed Islamic/Marxist states tried to flex their muscles in an area that was in a state of flux.

Maybe so, but it's all about perception. If Palestinians think terror has worked in the past, it's more incentive to try it, regardless of whether the perception is borne out by fact.

Surely that's down to the stupidity of the people involved? ie working with perceptions rather than fact.
A bit like Bush using the perception of increased chance of terrorist attack to do whatever he damn well pleses despite the fact the chances are in fact the lowest ever...
