Just been re-reading Alan Moore's League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and a thought occurred. The graphic novel implies that there have been other leagues in the past and, presumably, others in the future.

So, for any given time period, which characters would you have in the League and why?

You can have any literary or film character in existence so long as it is feasible that they can exist in the year you choose - even if they are incredibly old or young. So, for example, you could have the year be 2030 with an adult Harry Potter. The idea is to put together a team of heroes with complimentary skills and possibility for interesting character interactions...

So, any takers?

An excellent oportuniuty I feel to mention I really liked the 1700's version of the League, anything with Dr Syn aka 'The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh' is cool.

I also add if anyone happens to have a copy of Disney film version with Patrick Mcgoohan I'd be VERY interested in acquiring a copy.

A mate of mine runs LXG as tabletop. I always planned to have either the adult Stalky from the final story of Stalky and Co. Alternatively, Inspector Nayland Smith of Scotland Yard (Fu Manchu's nemesis).

I'd think Springheeled Jack would make a good member for a 1830s to 1890s League.

Yeah, that would be very cool.  The Jersey Devil might also be interesting (and would give him the chance to redeem himself from the legacy of an unusually poor X-Files episode).

So, for a late 1960's/early 1970's (ish) league, I'd want Jason Bourne/David Webb from the Bourne trilogy of spy novels. He's got a funky dual identity and mad skills in the fisticuffs, sneaking and impersonating departments. 'Jaws' from James Bond as muscle. Emma Peel and John Steed from The Avengers just generally doing their thing. Finally as a bit of a wild card, Joe 90.

If you don't have Sherlock Holmes then you're wasting your time.

Can I have Captain Scarlet?  Or the Terrahawks?

Indiana Jones and Jerry Cornelius would be my choices, why? Coz ones an all rounder and the other is a sneaky bastard!
