| It was at an early reenactment of Hastings- It went a long way to reassuring me that my kit wasn't so bad after all.

Was it? I've not been to any Hastings stuff, but I'm sure I've seen it in an old RPG mag or something. Maybe used in some old computer game publicity pic? It's really hurting my brain. I just know I've seen this thing somewhere before!

I think I need that helmet for playing an anti-paladin at HeroFest... Hmm. Anyone live near Tadley? Preferably HF attendees?

If you don't buy it Ian, I will. I'm keeping an eye on it on ebay, because I'm sure I've seen it somewhere. there's some cider addled brain cells trying to pop out a half forgotten memory.....maybe that old Barbarian computer game?

It looks like the helmets worn by the slighty "orcy" guards in the early Star Wars computer games, that might be where the memory is triggering from!
Why not ask the seller a question and see if he knows it's origins?

OK, I've bid on it... may well be up for selling it on at some point, though, if anyone else is really desperate for it.
