They do look very cool, but I'm concerned that as the core curves forwards some weapons checkers might fail them for the reason that stabbing isn't allowed. Have you spoken to any weapons checkers on the subject?

I can see where your concerns come from. I’ve put these Kukri’s through a bit of rigorous testing in various combat situations. I will not make and sell something that I consider dangerous, even if the item would pass checks at a system. After playing with the Kukri and putting it through it’s paces using safe fighting and unsafe fighting techniques we came to the conclusion that it is safer than a standard a short sword or knife. What! Yep, because the core is curved. The fear with stabbing with a traditional UK LRP weapon is that the thrusting force will push the rod through the foam and into the person. Because the core is curved it is difficult if not impossible to transmit any force along the Kukri. The kukri if you do stab just twists to the side. The next concern is that if you hit in a normal way with the Kukri then you will be hacking down with the tip and the core directly therefore making a direct stab with the core. Well I’ve tried to do that and it’s almost impossible to do. You have to get into a ridiculous angle holding the Kukri to attain that kind of hit and even then because of the way it’s held there wouldn’t be any force behind the blow. The most you can do is get a hit at around 45 degrees to the core tip which is about the same as a glancing blow from a standard sword tip. So to conclude the Kukri’s only difference is that to get a good stab in where the force is all transmitted along core is nigh on impossible. To stab with the tip of the core is difficult because of the angle of the weapon. And a regular hit on the blade is at a safe angle to the core edge. Finally remember these are curved cores. I’ve put a ‘flick’ in the end of the tip so that it is not directly pointing towards the point (belt and brace safety). I could produce a load and send them out to be pre checked by every weapons checker in the country but that’s not possible. A quick play with the Kukri and it’s obvious that you can’t stab with it.

How long in a straight line tip to tip?

And would a slightly different length be easy or have you made a batch of cores already at a fixed length?

They are 19 inches, tip to pommel. What kind of dimensions were you after.
