Hey everyone,
I just wanted to say hello to everyone and introduce myself but had no idea where else to do it.
I'm Artyom, moved to UK about four years ago and currently have an Indefinite Leave to Remain. Was doing various geeky things since... a long, long time ago.
I attended my first Maelstrom event a few weeks ago and loved every second of that. Appart from that bit when I found myself standing in freezing wind and cold rain, helping to hold up the huge, green tent that fell over while still drunk. But even that was a pretty interesting adventure
Usually you can find me behind the bar at the LARP Hotel mixing drinks.
Anyway, nice to meet you all and hope to see everyone at some point soon!
A.
PS: Mods, sorry if this is the wrong place to post this. I didn't know where else to put this thread and assumed this is the random spam area.

Azazel (4/2/2008) helping to hold up the huge, green tent that fell over while still drunk.Dude... how did you get your tent drunk? And I'm guessing... somewhere to the north east of Europe? Possibly Russia. J

Yup, I'm from Russia originally.
Hmm, the tent surely did seem pretty drunk to me: jerking from side to side and then just hanging there. But in reality it was me who was drunk then. It was really annoying because I could think straight but my movement was crap. Some lovely person gave me a dark glass bottle and said that it'll sober me up... turned out to be absinth.
Hehe, fun night

Seeing as this appears to be a generic 'hello' forum thread I thought I would say "hello".
I'm completely new here ... and it appears that I have a lot of reading ahead of me.
In the past I've been a pen-and-paper RPGer (fantasy and sci-fi settings, 3rd D&D) and a writer for an online forum-novel-what-the-hell-are-we-doing RPG based on the 80s cartoon Visionaries. I've been thinking about LARPing for quite a while but never got around it ... mainly because I didn't know where any events were being held.
So - any suggestions? I'm currently based in Leicester (sunny, sunny Leicester ) and I am equally up for sci-ft / fantasy / historical settings though I'm particularly keen on Steampunk at the moment.
As for my skills set: I love making costumes, I've had some very basic training in sword fighting (Vikings and a tiny bit of kendo) and I used to shoot for the Kent Junior archery team (compund, recurve and I've had a go at longbow too).

| Hi and welcome, sorry we've not replied in a couple of days, Maelstrom has taken up many of the site's users. I'd suggest you have a look through the system boards below, follow some links and soak it all up. Speaking as site admin I'd suggest getting as wide an experience as possible. Then speaking as a system organiser, I'd say you're best getting to know other people in discussions and asking them what games they enjoy.
