Yep - I know there are a fair few good sites  in the Mids. Also - naturally - it's fairly central for travel.

I remember LARPing at a ruined stately home site, somewhere near Redditch - can't for the life of me remember eaxactly where though.

Andy - you expressed an interested in the FBE a while back. This is the same combat system, basically, so I get to test it for both concepts.

Forum now more open to viewing by non-registered folk.

You can check out draft combat rules etc. if you wish. http://mythconception.freephpbbforum.co.uk/

At the moment it looks like play-testing on the 12th will be postponed.

Having had a look at the site/forum, it looks like interesting stuff. Any more info on what players will be doing....story wise. Is it Pvp, PvM a bi of both. All politics or sword and sandals fighting epics? Come on Inspire us! Oh and the midlands would be good.

Working on a website proper at the moment.

It'll be a mix of PvP/PvM - most of the PvP will be determined by the politics between the players - trade with someone one day - raid his lands, ravish his cattle, burn his womenfolk and steal his house the next (that's the right order...yes?)

I'm looking at extremely low magic - if any. Herbalism and potion-brewing will probably give the more eldritch side of things what they need. Plus a bit of mind-magic maybe - Ominous Egyptian priest etc. Throw in some mythological monsters, get the Gods rolling their knucklebones and messing with peoples fate....

Low-hit, deadly combat should make for some interesting fighting and encourage team co-operation when battling such nasties as the Children of the Hydra - but can you trust that pesky Macedonian mercenary who's guarding your back? (Especially after what you said about his goat!)

Currently looking for suitable sites - suggestions/offers welcome.

This will also be the combat system for the large scale battle event which will also hopefully get off the ground.

Think Clash of the Tiatans/Jason and the Argonauts/Troy/13th Warrior/Arthur of the Britons/Rome etc, with Harry Harryhausen monsters and a good dose of player politics, wheeler-dealing and trading. Should be the stuff of sagas (if I can get the people together.

Query mode....

Would organising an initial one-off event work for people? I envisage an ongoing system to get the politics going and enable storylines to develop.

Initial playtest was going to be a very simple linear and debrief afterwards.

P'raps I should just get the ball rolling with a weekender and iron out any problems afterwards...

Sounds all good. I’d start of small with a weekend event, people are loathe to travel any distance for one day stuff. Run a few linears and tavern/feast evening bits. Give folks the chance to sit around a campfire and chat about what would be good. Iron out the rules then. Get some good piccies of kit and monsters etc. Get a few folks frothing about it.
