You've probably heard that Terry Pratchett, author of the bestselling Discworld novels, has been diagnosed with a rare form of Alzheimer's. He has donated half a million pounds (approx $1 million) to Alzheimer's research and appeared in the media highlighting the low levels of research funding Alzheimer's receives. Loyal readers from around the world have responded and are attempting to match Terry's donation with the 'Match It For Pratchett' campaign.

I am a huge fan of Terry Pratchett and the Discworld series, and have the deepest sympathy for him, and for other Alzheimers sufferes, but its a bit of a shame that massively debilitating conditions like this need celebrity backing to get media attention.

I think it's because the majority of sufferers are elderly, so is seen by most as part and parcel of the ageing process, which it need not be.
Well it's my payday, so I will put some in today.
