In preparation for the big relaunch next year, I am going to be reviewing the rules and performing a rewrite sometime over the next few weeks. A discussion about this has already been in progress on paradox realms so if you are interested in adding any ideas feel free to read through that and comment. Feel free to make comments here or contact me privately as well if you prefer. Mainly looking for things to streamline and clarify the rules at the moment.

Also, next event is likely to be early 2009 and we are thinking of the same site as the last event (cos we liked it so much and it has everything a LRP site should have apart from a bar and a network of underground tunnels with built in trolls) and will be a catered event - or at least one meal priovided as a banquet on the saturday night. More news on this as we get it...

I have had some ideas posted to me on the issue of gun rules. I have suggested modifications and intend to present them to the crew list for discussion. Then they will be presented to the player base (sort of making the players a bit like the upper house in parliamentary politics <img src="http://www.paradoxrealm.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif"> ) for more discussion and refinement.
Noted problems have been the firing rate being far too fast (basically the perception, however accurate or inaccurate this may be, has been that players with firearms can basically rattle off as many shots as they can as fast as they can call single...). Now, despite the fact that calling single is not a valid call for firearms (the correct call is '[state target][state marksman if possessed][state damage]'

i.e. 'Bloke with hat, Marksman left leg, double through'

or 'Tom single'

However, the calls may still be too fast so some thought is going into how to adjust this slightly. At present these are only rough ideas with no official sanction behind them.

Main points with regards to guns currently on the table are as follows though:

- reduce the effective range for 'snap fired' weapons
- Allow normal firearms users to do a 'prepared shot' to make a shot up to the current allowed 'snap fired' range. This may be simply standing still and counting to 5 (as quickly as you can) before shooting.
- Marksmen can do the previous snap fire range without preparation and can do prepared shot to get the current snackies that they get already (increased range and hit locations)
- Increase the number of things that can counter guns in combat. Zarathrusta's anti gun oil virus being an example. His being allowed to have this in game was partly motivated by me wanting to playtest the idea to see if it works. This may also include the chance for refs calling 'jam' on player and crew guns, mainly if we think you are taking the piss too much with any of the firearms rules.

I'll release a full range of possible ideas for changes once they are a little more refined than this, however...

There are two words that I think could reduce the fire rate;

Cybel Logistics.

I am in the middle of updating the races rules and also the background info. I want to add more detail to some of the race descriptions and need your help to do it.

So, if you play or have played a particular race, I am interested in any info you may have. Anything you may have made up to add versimilitude to the race - names of foods, animals, cities, for example. Also, any stories, myths, technology and philosophies you may have come up with. Send me them all and I will try to add most of them to the 'official' race description somewhere. You can also send me quotes which may have been said by your character commenting on some aspect of your race or another race.

Can't promise I will use it all but I will use all I can...
