Quite frankly a detailed book on foam weapon making covering all the elements with pictures and techniques is something the hobby is sorely lacking.

I'd have thought it wouldn't make much sense economically however, seeing as it would have to be written by somebody who makes weapons to sell, and writing a book on how to make weapons basically involves encouraging your target audience to cut out the middle man and do it themselves. Gods I'm cynical

If you did do it however, it would most definitely be a very large box of win.

An online resource would be better. LRPers are a tight bunch of buggers who'll buy one copy and share it around. Hey how about a photo based how to locked and pinned on Rule 7?

I'd have thought having one book between a whole bunch of aspiring weapon makers would be really unhelpful, since you wouldn't have it to hand when you wanted to reference something - especially seeing as most of us have lrp friends from all over the country

if somone writes the bulk, coz i totaly suck at writing, ill add and contribuite knoladfge, i have no problem teachhing people how to make kit, people are lazy, so they will buy kit off me any way, and if they wnat to lern they will just waste mony learing like the rest of us did, so it makes no odds to me

...and as far as i'm concerned, showing people how bloody complex the job is, how much it costs to make One Item and the time it takes might actually make people say "bollox to this" and buy from us anyway, like Mark says    How the hell we make any money at it is a mystery I can tell ya.

If you had said about a week ago on "How to pin Replica Firearms," i've just been through around 30 getting ready for Maelstrom Event 1.  If I get a nice replica in i'll do a set of pictures.  It's pretty simple really, you just need the right tools, bits and pieces and a place to do it.

As to making foam weapons, i'll see about taking a few pictures of the sabre i'm about to make.

Fair point wookie - never thought about it like that. Knowing what goes into making a good quality lrp weapon i wouldn't dream of arguing with the price tags - I make my own because i really wanted to learn how and because I have limited funds.
