Ok, so i'm at the stage where I've made afew batches of weapons. I can copmpetently make something that will pass weapons tests and wont self destruct after 2 events. My skills with latex leave alot to be desired however. I hardly ever get nodules or bristles, but no matter what I do I cant seem to avoid either brush strokes or drips. Usually one or the other.
Can anybody offer any technique advice for avoiding these?

| Yes. Practice, thin layers and speed of process. All factors that define how well your overall finish comes out. Afraid tips from me wouldn't work - I did get trained in "how to make a larp weapon" by someone else, who went through it with me, I watched, then we made a batch of a load. Then I spent another few years starting to get better and better. This is not something that "appears" it's an art that takes time, effort and practice to get right. I'm not perfect and my product I feel is improving over time. The more I do, the better it seems to get. Patience my Son, you will improve. You just have to keep at it, learn from your mistakes. Or come watch me do it and see how I screw it up

| appreciate the advice. I was somehow doubting that there would be a quick fix solution, but it doesn't hurt to ask. its just finding excuses to make obscene quantities of weapons in the name of practise. Next batch i think will be focused on tools and improvised weapons for randomly leaving around camp.

| Well there is more advice, only I don't have the necessary time, patience or inclination to take photos, write, document etc the whole thing. There are a lot of steps in making weapons and a lot that can potentially scrap the whole thing, forcing you to start again. I did count one time and I think it's up to about 20. Ish. And half can ruin it if you get them wrong. Still - come take a look at me doing it if you really must Or ask specific questions and i'll try my best to answer. On email.

Try dabbing a sponge over the wet latex, it gives a kind of hammered effect.

| I prefer stippling with a brush for the hammered look, but thanks for the tip. Will give it a try Makai - I would very much be up for that, however I'm based in Swansea so its not likely to be practical. Perhaps you should write a book and sell it?
