As a suggestion to those trading, it would be nice to see more costume-makers there and to see a wider variety of goods. By the latter comment I mean: "stuff wot isn't just for fantasy LRP". I see fantasy LRP traders at the fantasy LRP events that I go to - being able to browse the kit for other genres would be very interesting and useful. (I understand, of course, that fantasy LRP is probably a massive market in comparison to other genres). LRP kit = fancy dress party kit = Venice costume = any of a variety of other ways to use it so seeing more variety would be wonderful. If it can be done :-)
Following the feedback from the last Fair this weekend gone the post above was posted up. Now the chap does have a point but I don't have too much in the way of knowledge of the Sci-Fi/Modern market save weapons (which are currently hamstrung by the VCR bill) and clothing you can get from Army Surplus stores. Do any of you do or know someone who does the more unique items that would fit into this genre? Communicators? Technology props? Stargate costumes? Sci-Fi military patches and so forth? I have new spaces opening up in the October Kit Fair and would like to expand the genres covered if possible.

| I don't think there are any traders who deal exzclusively in this. I feel the best way to handle it is for existing traders to give some space on thier stalls for this sort of thing. Weapons traders already do this with the infamous lightsabre and a few other weapons (modern stuff like tools and pick axe handles seem popular). One person I could talk to might be Fain (Riftworld organiser). He makes his own sci fi props for Riftworld (and a wonderful job he does of it too...) and may be willing to make some to sell. He did the brain in a jar for us, for example. If he were willing to make some stuff for sale, I'd be willing to bring it to the fair and do the selling (paying for a trader place etc). Maybe others might want to add stuff to this stall as well?

Absinthekiss does embroidered badges & patches. She did a lot of the team patches for Stargate. I have a contact who turns wooden goblets bowls & platters. It's not Sci fi, I know but I didn't see anything similar last w/e.

| I do larp safe props for Stargate Larp, although i'm still only an online larp manufacturer, trading replica firearms face to face and online. If there is something you want (I have so far made modern day and a Zat Gun prop) then you just have to ask. I just don't make anything to sell at a fest and even if I did, it would probably be the standard fantasy fest type as, like any business, there just isn't the call for this kind of thing in enough scale to warrant making it "just in case someone wants to buy it." I make an alien communicator, a larp-safe X, who will actually buy it? Least you know someone out there will actually make it if you have an idea - www.makai-larp.co.uk
- PD: Captain Dubious (so i'm told) and all round Arms Dealer of Mill-en
- EOS: William Duyven, Fellowship of the Traveller
- RL: Ian, maker of fine LARP weapons
- www.makai-larp.co.uk
- Now providing replica firearms - delivered to every Maelstrom Event!
- Ok, i'll add "Free Delivery to Maelstrom and EOS"

| Probably any LRP Trader will make Sci Fi props if you ask them. I've made loads from lightsabers and Blasters to replica muskets and pistols through to Halo weapons, arm mounted rocket launchers, SG1 Jaffa staffs, Zat's Chainsaws, chainswords, steel pipes, Nun chucks, tonfas shotguns etc etc, the list is as long as you want to imagine. The only reason we don't carry them as stock is that we usually attend fantasy/medieval events which don't warrant such items but I have displayed a full stormtrooper and weapons at CP once!
