I dont think a maverick sprayed gold counts as a realistic imitation fire-arm. I also doubt any law enforcement agency would waste their time going after anybody who did spray up nerf guns, and I doubt even more that it would go to court should they actually make an arrest.
and yes, it is shite at range. I mostly bought them in order to make them look cool, though i've already stripped the inhibitors which will give it an extra 5-10 feet or so

I'm inclined to agree with you on this one...see S38 Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006: Meaning of “realistic imitation firearm” (1) In sections 36 and 37 “realistic imitation firearm” means an imitation firearm which— (a) has an appearance that is so realistic as to make it indistinguishable, for all practical purposes, from a real firearm; and (b) is neither a de-activated firearm nor itself an antique. (WARNING: There is more to this section of the act so don't read what I've quoted and be fooled into thinking that that's the law in it's entirity on the subject) and I would be inclined to think most NERF weaponry is clearly distinguishable from your average firearm especially when sprayed gold. Although saying that I haven't looked at many modern NERF weapons. Matt J

Shven (5/7/2008) I dont think a maverick sprayed gold counts as a realistic imitation fire-arm.
I must admit, Gold wasn't the first color that sprang to mind when it comes to repainting NERF guns, especially when you had said
That and only allow guns to be used if they've been painted more realistic colours.
So I got to thinking more gun-metal colors.
I apologise for my misinterpretation.
Certainly a Gold Maverick won't classify as a RIF.

Well its a combination of brass and silver, but i'll be darkening it up. Either way it doesn't look remotely 'realistic' in an everyday sense, but looks alot more realistic than the blue and yellow they were before
