Realm Of Heros (Xposted)
Inspired by several friends, an addiction to LARPing, and the desire to do more of it, by us all (or to get involved, in the case of one friend), I am finally posting up about a new LARP group that hopefully will be born this spring in south Devon, (England). This is, yes, a recruitment post, and anyone interested in getting involved should email me bardic_dreams(at)yahoo.co.uk so that I can email everyone interested at the end of Feb (when I have done all the recruiting adverts!) to arrange an inaugrual meeting for all interested and looking to be regular members, and then to keep everyone updated. The intention is for the LARPs to begin in June 2008, one Saturday a month. I run a community theatre group, but havent headed a LARP group before!
The general plan:
- ROH will be a small totally non-profit group (adventure/event fees will be literally to cover venues, insurances and any group kit or paid advertising we decide on).
- In a lot of clubs you have the Players and the Monsters. We want to experiment with getting round this by creating our own games system (its on the drawing board at the moment) wherin a player will be one of two (or three, depending!) clans. Combat, intrigue and adventures will take place in an ongoing story between the clans. In other words, everyone is a player and technically a monster too. *grin*.
- Every regular member will be asked to take a turn at running an adventure.
- Non-combative roles are available as well.
- You will need to be 16 or over to join (16 - 17 with written parental permission).
- All adventures will be in a fantasy setting. some may be indoor, others outdoor, some more battle orientated, others more intrigue or interaction based.
