I run LARP events every 3rd Saturday at Hainault Forest Country Park, a mile or two north of Romford. I'm trying to find a couple of suitable sites (for me to look at) within about 20 miles of it to run weekend events at (so I can have the one-day event for people who don't want a full weekend at the same site).

Required
[*] A large forested area and a wide open area, any other terrain types would be nice
[*] Parking
[*] A kitchen
[*] A toilet block
[*] Mobile phone reception (you never know...)
[*] Within 70 miles of Hainault

Optional - but nice
[*] An indoor sleeping area
[*] Nowhere near any major roads (noise)
[*] No electricity pylons...
[*] Within 20 miles of Hainault

If anyone knows any sites that would fit then please say - google maps links and contact info would also be nice, as well as any personal experiences of them. If they're known to be LARP friendly then even better!

Try this. There's even one in Hainault!

Harmer Green Scout camp is ok, I suppose. It's in Welwyn North.

Romford? LRP I can get the tube to? Blimey...

My dad is a Group Scout Leader in Oxon, and will become a Deputy District Commissioner in May (iirc), so scout camps are definitely on the list to look at... One thing I will say, from that list Cherrywood is definitely out - one of the other groups I go to uses it, and I don't want to step on toes or have something too familiar to those who also go there ;-)

As for anyone near the area, we always welcome new players, and (as soon as I get a new logo that doesn't hit copyright) I'll be actively recruiting and advertising ;-)

Thriftwood coutnry Forest might not be a bad one. Lots of woodland + lake towards the back and sides of the site. Is some indoor camping ina  wooden hut near the entrance/exit. Normally left to it own devices (fallen trees ect) but things like the archery range/climb wall + assualt course may break SoD.

If you stay around the back and sides aroudn the lake theres more than enough forest to deal with though.

Only problem, its in Brentwood. Ill get the accurate map when i find the address, but i know my old scout group owns a large portion of it and tis going to waste atm.
