With the last post in mind, maybe there needs to be a rota established and enforced for those who supervise the kids to make sure that everyone gets a chance to leave their kids for a few hours but no one skives?

I suspect that among some parents at least, there's already an attitude of "LRP events are great -- I can abandon my small child(ren) for the whole weekend, and get pissed, and not have to worry about them because someone else will keep an eye on them." They're generally right of course, and LRP events are RELATIVELY safe places for kids who've wandered off from their parents, but it's still incredibly irresponsible -- and it gives LRPing parents in general a bad name, too. I think the "ban numpties" approach is probably best, and extend it to "ban numpty parents, or parents of numpties."

award of 'best LRPer under 10' in Britain. Maybe there should be a ceremony or something...

That's it then... Ian, if you're ever planning on bringing Kyle to Shards again let me know, I need to start doing arty stuff again and making a medal (and accompanying certificate) for him would be a great starting point.
