Well being pedantic, the LOTR saga was written as four books I thought tolkien broke it down into six books - which is indicated in the chapter listing at the start. It was intended to be published as bound into one physical book, but was broken into three on the decision of the publisher. I'm personally hoping the Hobbit film will include a guest appearance by Legolas (at his dad's court) when the elves imprison the hobbits. That will nicely confuse all the annoying kids in the audience.

They break your heart, and then your spear, and then they get killed" EOS: Hasib Suran: "Yes, older brother, it's your choice. I only advise you." TNN: Druid Coran: "Do not heckle me, witch!"

Fatelf (1/11/2008) or Christopher Tolkiens Classic "Middle Earth Encyclopedia Vol 16: Tax returns and other crap my Father would never have published."Hey thats my favourite book
Matt Pennington (4/26/2007) But I do think LRP is a hobby best enjoyed in a positive state of mind. If you approach a game with a positive attitude then you're more likely to enjoy yourself there. "Although I can accept talking scarecrows, lions and great wizards in emerald cities, I find it hard to believe there is no paperwork involved when your house lands on a witch."

And what a butcher job that was.. I mean three films for lord of the rings... How did they come up with that number? Where do these people get off thinking a single book can be split up in these ways... Quite... even the author thought six.

Actually.....Lord of the Rings is six books yes, however Tolkien wanted it Bound into "Two" books. The Publisher thought three so he had to come up with a name "the Two towers" was an after thought name. Anyway, that's what I read from his son's take on it.

| I had a hunt round and found a few fan sites were it was being suggested that one film would cover the story of the hobbit and the second would be some of the back story to LOTR, so maybe it'll cover the period between Bilbo's adventure and the war of the ring. There's certainly enough material- driving the necromancer out of Mirkwood, the rise of Mordor, the taking/losing again of Moria- and of course Bilbo didn't just hang up his cloak after Lonely Mountain, he travelled extensively and could have been part of any number of these adventures.

Oh.... Well thats Good then I suppose.... one film for the Hobbit... Given the amount of actual stuff he dropped in order to put in his own pointless nonsensical made up crud I am however terrified by what the second film may hold.
