| *Reads attempts at applying real life science to a fantasty game* *gives up as head starts hurting* I'm just glad I'm playing a character who won't be too impeded by only having one hand...

| Sarah here Course the real answer is 'whatever Fain decides' as its not real metaphysics, as people have already acknowledged. Plus warp entities are involved so that will warp (pun not intentional) the science anyway. I'm glad Morgan missed out on that one. Can you imagine the fashion faux pas of having a red pigmented tentacley hand when wearing a purple toned outfit? On a serious note, if any characters fancy cybernetics of the *tasteful* variety, let me know and I'll see if I can arrange anything. Of course my total lack of cyber-surgeon skills might impede my ability to arrange anything.

MrDaniel (12/10/2007)
Arcane Engineering skills don't have levels as such, but the skill is of equal or greater rarity to the things that they 'fix', so assuming a crude parallel for Medic, then you need Level 4+ Medic to even think of developing a virus and thats beyond most cultures currently (with the exception of smug little auto-meds - hates 'em). Being pedantic, engineering does have levels, just that level 1 is the only one in the rulebook. Some of the tech Jenna's playing with is skill level 2, so she's using level 1 skill working on level 2 tech and it's very difficult to work with, if IC fascinating. This seems to support your theory that there possibly are medic levels 5 or 6 - not to say it's not necessarily available to players, only that no player has unlocked it yet. I've got a book that I found pretty interesting and very readable about or RL understanding of genetic mutation and a history of what has happened to various people over time, I can lend it you if you like. Bluefaerie (12/10/2007)*Essentially my left shoulderblade and my first five vertebrae have fused, causing me to have abone mass roughly the size of a dinner plate across my shoulder that I can't move well. This sounds analagous to a few RL ailments which cause bone to grow where/when it shouldn't, or muscle to turn into bone. In the modern world its certianly possible to resculpt the bone to a large degree via surgery, the main problem is that the root illness is untreatable and so it grows back. So if Gin is still mutating then it'll grow back, if not surgery should fix it. As long as, as you say, you don't get psi-healed, and assuming that there's not other factors which we don't know about IC yet.

| According to all current theories, the mutation has stopped and was combatted by our immune system, cept it didn't work quick enough or completely brilliantly. So I think that my shoulder should be good to be shattered, and provided I don't get psi healed to my body again I should be ok. Course, that means that only the actual medics can heal me up, which should be interesting.... As to further mutations, it should be interesting to see if it does happen.
