| Here's what I definetely know IC bout my mutation and it's effects: *Essentially my left shoulderblade and my first five vertebrae have fused, causing me to have abone mass roughly the size of a dinner plate across my shoulder that I can't move well. When I asked for psi-healing off Mist, she brought up the point that according to all she'd heard, our mutations were now part of our natural bodies and therefore psi-healing won't work, because it'll just reform it to it's natural state. *In light of that, I'm going for the "shatter the plate sized bone thing and then get a surgeon to reshape it into a mirror image of my right shoulder-blade. The only drawbacks to that are a) psi-healing will turn it back to a plate sized mass again so I can't have my body healed by psi, and b) it'll hurt like an arse. (Actually, like my arse right now which is so full of soft tissue injury I have to sleep on my front). Opinions on this would be gratefully recieved but on the other hand, I don't see how we're going to be able to solve the head transplant without nanites or something, and as for the eye and skin.... The hands I guess you could cut off and replace with a hook or something, cos I know that at least four of the Westers are going nowhere near cyberware.

Heh. I'm not sure looking at things medically would be the best way of dealing with it of course. I'm still surprised that certain players haven't already dragged them into the warp to see what happens.

Well after what has been stated about grafting skin and fingers it could plausibly be said that once your surgery has healed your body will consider that normal and then psi heal would not be an issue. Otherwise I imagine westlitsiders with birth defects that were corrected would have a hard time also...? Not a medic so just supposition

Oh I made it very clear to the nanolord that offered that I wasn't interested in that either no matter how temporary the nanites in my system . But then I'm actually not that fussed about the crablike claw so no need to worry about me until you find something workable. There are plenty of others more in need of help than me.

| Surgical procedures would be considered a change in the body and therefore reset by psi. I suspect that it would be necessary to research and modify restore to recognise the mutations in each person and change them back. What we may require is a sample of thier tissue (blood/skin/other fluids) before they were mutated in order to act as a baseline and then try to manipulate their bodies back to what they were using psi. In other words, a downtime action...

One other option that may not fit with either peoples downtimes or future event plans.
Find another old pre-fall Flesh Tech (A Division of Edge Tech! (TM)) facility and see if it's got anything helpful left.
I mean, poking around in long lost, decayed and potentially occupied places which are probably awash with bio-toxins, malfunctioning defence systems and if you're really lucky an insane AI running the show in the slim hope of finding something relevant to the issue at hand is all in a day's work for you lot

I gather Psi 'heals' you back to your 'true form,' but can't regrow lost parts. I remember this came up in conversation previously. One NPC lost an arm on event 1 and nothing could be done about it and we later met a certain other NPC who lost a finger but had managed to regrow it by mysterious means.
I don't think it's been mentioned, but I've always assumed psi can't heal old/healed injuries. Otherwise no one in the west would have scar tissue, which would look very odd. This would explain what old surgical scars (e.g. caused by application of medical tar) don't get healed.
What I'm not clear on is whether 'true form' is defined as 'residual self image' (a la Matrix) or something like 'what your DNA says you should look like.' If it's self image the it might able to undo the mutations while they are new, before your mental image of yourself begins to change, but I guess the limit of not regrowing lost bits would still stop it.
Given the nanolords have nanites to turn someone's hand into a claw, I guess they can be used to turn a tentacle hook into a hand (probably not exactly the person's old hand, but a regular normal human hand). That assumes they understand their nanites enough to adapt them (I'm guessing that secretly they didn't until Charles was found). There is still the question of whether or not nanites are actually cyberware (both from an IC belief perspective, and an OC metaphysics screwing up defender's psi perspective). Also, I don't know about the complexities of nanolords giving nanites to fully grown adults, rather than the 'early stages' approach they use for themselves.
Never mind FleshTec, what we really need to find is the cloaked Eldriss medical lab we read about 2.5 years ago. . .
