Hey guys,

I'm in the process of rekitting myself, and buying more low fantasy costume for general use. Having found a couple of companies that sell spears and shields, I'm looking for a low fantasy single headed axe. However besides Tallows, I can't find pictures of any decent ones. Can you guys help?

Thanks

Lamia trading have got 3 of my viking axes in their stock at the moment- very realistic (like the real thing from 10 paces)and very tough- no photo's though- my real job doesn't leave enought time to organise sensible stuff like that. But if you're anywhere near Gloucestershire....

Sadly not! I'm all the way down in London, so no sensible way of getting down there. How much do you charge for a 36" axe?

Andy, isn't this a pic of you wielding one of your Viking axes?

Bottom row, middle pic. Andy is the large chap with the axe, about to gently tap the other large chap on the chin with it, if memory serves, and if my "What happened next?" Question of Sport skills remain intact.

I also make axes if you have a mind to look, 36" is £35, style of your choosing, embellishments and colours all included in the price.  I've just started with adding cast-latex moulding after getting a self-taught crash course in casting high-quality plaster, the first set of results have been very promising, some small items cast that have come out very well indeed.  Follow the link to see some rough lines on axes in my "Standard LARP Weapons" section.  Almost anything possible

Hope that helps out.

Just read our posts again, the axe's are two handed, not sure of exact lenght off the top off my head, but definatly longer than 36". Darren from wandering soldier does really good axe's if Andy's are too long for you. I happen to use one of his for Dummoni myself. Also try Sean from skian mhor, his website is down but thats just a technical difficulty, his email sean@skianmhor.co.uk Darrens is whatroom_bathwhat_whatwhat@hotmail.com

Hope this is usefull

Ian

Mine are probably more like 42" plus, real war axes tended to have long hafts unless they were made for throwing- that way you could shorten the grip to use it with a shield/close quarters or lengthen it to use two hands, I'm afraid I tend to ignore weapon length rules as they are generally load of bollocks based on Gary Gygax's D&D spec's, preferring to base things on real examples.
You can have one for £45- their built onto canvas formers and have a leather reinforcing strip in case you catch it on a shield or something (I have disarmed people and moved shields out of the way with these axes)
1. is a bearded dane axe.
2. is a normal dane axe.
3. is bearded Rohirrim axe with a horse head sculpted onto the inside/bottom of the "beard"

I've got about half a dozen that I'm in the process of selling off.

If you have a look at www.geocities.com/dledt/weapons they're on there
