| Ok, so we planned for a thirty strong game. We started advertising, we put up invites everywhere we could think off. Contacted members of our established games. Wrote a cracker seven line plot and a whole bundle of personal plot. Organised so that the player to crew ratio was 1-2 so that the crew would not be odvious and the plot just kept on roleing. Booked a cracker site. Organised the Crimson Moon private tavern to attend and a couple of entertainers. So what happened? Well... we only got a little responce from our regulars. Not a good start, BUT we got several people from outside. We did however have a MASSIVE responce for crew! So in the end we decided to take the loss and run... Within a week before the event, 14 crew fell out due to various problems. Then on the day the guy ment to drive the minibus (who had paid for the event!) decided not to come. So there we are seven people, running late due to the pull out, in a seven seater, with no boot and all our kit, on our way to wale's. However we got there with half the people we intended, but the plot went down VERY well, the site was fantastic and the crew and players where fantastic. Especialy since 4 of our crew/players where completely new and had never larped before and annother 2 had only done one day events, and one of those was my co'ref! So what have I learnt? 1: ALWAYS be sure of your drivers! 2: Treble plan everything! 3: Write LOTS of plot! More than you need! 4: Prep NPC's well. Make sure they have a good prep and they will respond well. 5: Make your system simple so that ref. envolvement is minimal. I knew I had succeeded despite everything when A:One of experianced RP's couldnt figure out who was crew and who was a player B: We got through most of the weekend without hardly any ref. calls! C: When I asked the newbies to stand up, there was genuin shock! D: The first thing I was asked on ending the event was: when is the next one Bus seriously, I could not have managed it if EVERYONE there had not gone above and beyond, it was very much a group event, with no one not pitching in when it was needed!
