I'm after something a bit different. I want a patchwork leather cloak. I'd like it to be waterproof if at all possible too. Does anyone have any suggestions for who to talk to?

Could give velvet Glove costumes a try, i know that they have some patchwork clocks and jacket like things. Don't think they are waterproof though, but they seem open to variatns on their work so it might not be a bad idea to give them an email.

Do you mean made of patches all joined edge to edge randomly
Or, made of different coloured panels
Or, a 'tatter-jacket' type thing
Send me a picture/drawing/skech-on-the-back-of-an-envelope* and I'll
give you a quote

The idea is that this is a cloak that has been made from lots of small pieces of leather taken from a "trophy" prey so the pieces would need to be joined together at the edges.

| I made a patchwork cloak out of various pieces of material once, so I expect the principle's the same. My advice to whoever ends up making it would be to line it if possible and sew the pieces to that as well as to each other. I didn't line mine (didn't fit with the story behind the cloak) and it puts a lot of strain on the hems so I'm forever mending it after each use. Leather is pretty wind and waterproof, but again adding a lining would help with that. It also means you can cut the lining to the pattern then patchwork over it rather than either trying to disguise the straight lines of the pattern, or trying to do it without one. Either's possible, lining's easier :-)
