Contrary to most of the reviews, I thought this rocked. Oddly enough, I didn't even see where most of the bad reviews were coming from. I thought it was startlingly beautiful, sad, a very poignant study of what it is to have to be a ruler above being a person. I also thought the acting, especially Cate Blanchett's, was superb, and the sea battles were exceptional.

The only thing that broke the spell at all for me was the part where the boy tries to assassinate her with the pistol, and all I could think was "why do none of her ladies in waiting have combat skills?" LARPers thought, I guess

Maelstrom - Captain Sasagani of the Havocstani Medical Corps.
