Hey guys,

I've been looking on and off for the past year for daggers (18" and less), but besides Tallows, I've not been able to find any manufacturers who sell anything close to what I'm looking for. Most seem to be built with functionality over design in mind, and so while various manufacturer's swords may be excellent, their daggers seem to be wide and blocky and boring.

Strangely enough the only one I use is one that Doug and Jayne at Veeleather made, a spiral bladed coreless 12" dagger. I'd like something moulded rather than carved, but beyond Tallows and Kapalo (both of whom I'm uncertain of whether they're still selling) I don't know who else to turn to. I'm after thin bladed, lots of detail and elegant. Can you guys help?

Thanks

Send me a design and i'll see what I can do to help.  Go to the website link below to have a look at my work so you have an idea, I would be happy to make a coreless dagger, although I do have a very thin core I could use to give your dagger some rigidity if it's coreless there of course isn't much guarantee that it won't be floppy at 12" if it's very thin and doesn't have a core.

Email details for me are on the website as well - hope I can assist.

06cal23, Eldritch and Colin are both good, but I'm looking for something special. I'm happy to pay whatever it costs too. Makai - I've been looking at your website for sometime, and I hope to see you at Maelstrom in the new year. Anyway, I'll send you a picture of the kind of thing I'm looking for, but it'll be cored for definite. Who else out there specialises in lots of detail?

I dont think Drudwyn was saying anything like "yes or no" to anyone, just "getting some feedback" from makers and people that know of people.  It's what the forum is all about

I wouldn't call my stuff "The Best" but i'm ok, do a lot of custom work (pretty much everything really!) so decided to post here to see if I could help out.  I know it seems increasingly difficult to find people that will do custom work these days, I know when I started larping there seemed to be a lot more people out there making weapons and doing things for friends etc.   I could name names but I won't, a lot of them will be sorely missed because they turned out excellent work, that which some of us aspire to - I know I do.  Still, there are a few out there that can sort out what you want at a reasonable price.

Sounded like you posted some constructive feedback 06cal, good to hear.  You mentioned the club standards like Eldritch, who do a great job and have been for years.  Kovacs and Medlock too.  Both excellent stuff, hopefully I will be improving over time to one day be as good as they are.

Until then, i'll continue to do what I do, better the process and hopefully make things that help larpers get what they are after

Do Kovacs or Medlock do custom jobs? I ask because the only places I know that sell Medlock weaponry are Monster Boutique and Adventurer's Mart, both of whom just take deliveries and sell on.

Kovacs does (if you're prepared to wait).

Medlock doesn't (though Medlock does seem to do one-off designs rather than making lots exactly the same).

I agree there, I wasn't so much saying "custom jobs" only "other manufacturers."  I hadnt heard that Medlock do any custom work, selling through dealers more than anything.  I prefer not to talk about the way other manufacturers work, for obvious reasons.  I was coming at this from a who does the kind of thing you are looking for in terms of
