Fame and Fortune would be fine with you using a spear/shield combo, obviously after having spear checked! (Properly of course)

There's always Winter Kingdoms this weekend, which may even have some of the original (and best) Kin Cheap stabby spears in the crew kit. If FNG hasn't nicked them all.

FatesDawn lrp, we like the shield and spear combo!

Look for the details at our host groups forum: www.wyvernstaleslarp.co.uk

We are based in soutampton, run a couple of different systems and all of them are ok with that combo

Its a sci-fi system not fantasy, but I have been assured that (assuming weapons checks are OK) Waypoint would allow spear and shield combo. Its even appropriate for one of the races.

If you're interested, I'll enquire about Blood Red Roses

It's technically re-enactment not larp, but I highly recommend you try the Dark Ages Society.

I went along a few years ago, got hooked, and now I'm their new member's representative...

Their website (http://www.darkagessociety.co.uk/) is a bit crap, my page (http://haukr.co.uk/das/index.html) has a bit more info.

But basically they're damn good fun. As close to larp as you're going to get using metal weapons. Consistant characters, lots of roleplay. Vikings or Saxons. Fighting in small units, up to 10 people. Three units of Saxons, three of Vikings. Skirmishing around the woods all Saturday afternoon, feasting in the hall Saturday evening.

No character death or injury, sadly. They're re-enactors: if you get into a fight, you fight until the other side is dead (one-hit-and-you're-down) or fleeing, then once you've gone they all get up again.
