| Well I lost a phaser that I ordered once, but that was partly as the company was newly established, I always figured they just lost the order stuff, but I did not know how to establish connection. Be careful of serving papers, even for small claims sometimes the courts view low value cases as frivilous and may be forced to rule in your favour but then not award you costs to discourage cases of that value from clogging up the system, oh and keep us informed of how serving the papers go as there are other organisations that have also done a dissapearing act, act least as far as responding to complaints that the service provided was "not fit for purpose" but in your case its a different sort claim, though clearly the organisation could also be "not fit for purpose" (unless its all just be a bit off a muddle that is frantically being sorted at their end, and given there reputation I would still like to consider that to be the case) its a pretty clear failure to supply. The publicity I have seen on several boards and that they are not responding to it makes me wonder, which given the good reputation makes me think and worry that something is not right, such as falling ill, which in a small "one man band" business may cause serious unplanned problems which is no-ones fault.

| If your orders are Internet orders, then chances are your bank or credit card company will give you your money back far easier than taking Eldritch to court would be. I faxed them last week, with an explanation of which order I was enquiring about, details of how to contact me via several media, and a note that their rep is being damaged online by their lack of communication, so even if the problem is that their broadband has died again or one of them is ill, I should have thought the friendly warning would have had some effect. It isn't looking good.

But its not that their broadband has died,
their phone doesn't get answered,
their site has been taken down by their hosting company.
All very bad signs
I am going to pursue getting my money back from my Credit Card company.

I was never really seriously intending to employ the courts, just hoping that such tactics might get SOME sort of response out of them. Trying to reclaim money through the credit card company sounds like a good idea. I shall send a letter threatening that, perhaps.
I'd much prefer my stuff than to get my money back, really.
:/
EDIT: Oh, just to point out that the site is still up, just hosted somewhere different. It's about half-way down the second page, if you Google "Eldritch"...

| One thing about not getting response from e-mail (and I know that the phone has had similar problems but I am not dealing with that problem...) you should probably bear in mind that a move in location may also mean a change in ISP and therefore a change in e-mail address. Since the website has been already noted to have changed then it may be the case that the e-mail has also changed and the information about this change not got to you yet. Any messages may therefore be heading to a dead mail box. Equally, any automatic forwarding to the new address may not have worked properly. Also, the fact that they already mentioned 300+ e-mail backlog due to the move might be a factor. They may simply have not gotten through them all yet. Maybe if you take evidence of your order and payment to an event they are attending they may be able to fulfil it there and then, assuming it hasn't already been posted and is therefore en route?

The site can be found on the site of the same ISP,
I reckon their domain name has expired ...
Still doesn't explain the lack of answers to phone calls, letters etc

They're not down as going to the Foreign Fields LARP Kit Fair in February any more, and I was sure they were on the list earlier in the year. They went last year, we bought stuff off them. They seemed to be doing a roaring trade. Anybody know of an event they're due to trade at so a message of concern can be passed on. And as to the move - I've spoken to Lynne in the last 4 weeks, they had got moved and all sorted then, so anything that has gone wrong is a new problem, or the recurrence of the old ones - which were: broadband dying and phone refusing to take messages.

Greetings all,
In an attempt to explain about the beast that is Eldritch......
I am a previous employee with the business and know a little more than most about their current state of affairs, Above there is a correct statement that Eldritch changed premises during the summer.
Unfortunatley the time of the move was basically forced - due to a compulsory purchase order as far as i am aware. The timing could not have been worse due to the time of year, during the busy larping season of the year.
The new premises themselves are capable - however there have been numerous problems with internet and phone providers over the last few months, creating obvious consequences surrounding the basic running of any business.
If i am Honest, I cannot fully explain other issues as it is not my place to do so - For which i would like to apologise as i realise this might be frustrating.
In essence Eldritch has taken a real beating over the past year or two, sadly. I do hope in the future former glories will be restored - until then i am sure patience is appreciated.
My current and best advice would be to buy from any Eldritch stand that you might come across in person - failing this i am contactable to try and help arrange some orders For the greater london area.
I will pass on all comments to Eldritch and should you wish to speak with me about orders please email me.
